zachman
Does anyone know if the original Mustang GT strut mounts were changed when the Ford Racing suspension was added to our cars at SAI. I ask because a friend has a 2008 SGT and it has the popping noise associated with the front stut mounts deteriorating. Many of the GT owners change the original strut mounts to the GT500 mounts. Frank S
When I did springs and struts/shocks on my 2009 car I learned that the 2009 strut mounts were identical to the new-new-new GT500 mounts I had installed. I believe 2009 was the year that the GT500 mounts were incorporated as a production item.
NordicShelby
I put GT500 strut mounts on my SGT and I used STEEDA caster and camber plates. I would have perfered to put Shelby Caster and Camber plates but I missed a 72 hour sale by 8 hours so I ended up putting the Steeda brand on and I LOVE THEM. There are alot of companies selling the "GT500" strut mounts when they are in fact 07 GT strut mounts. No different than the ones you have on your car right now. They changed the design in 07 and again in 09. The 09 ones are the newest revision and the ones you want. I bought "GT500" strut mounts because mine were popping and this fixed the popping but they were identical to the ones that came off the car. I fully expect them to start popping again in another year or two.

What are we looking at as far as cost? CC

cobradad
Cool, thanks for the info. I'll check the dealer for cost vs. outside. Editing for a possible "DUH" question, but never the less.... Do I need to change the caster and camber plates when going to the GT500 mounts? TheKurgan
when do you get this popping? when going over bumps? Pretty much ends up doing it all the time. Going over bumps, making a turn, pulling out, etc.

cobradad
For me it has been just as I start to back up and turn the wheel, I'll get a pop. CC
07-2937
shelby caster camber plates use a new top unlike the ford one its sealed bearings and flat plates same as max motor sports... But all sgts have stock ford strut caps they were reused during the strut swap.

I think I gave somewhere around $80 for the pair from LMR(iirc). Mine came form a different racy supplier, but were black-studded and $60.00, I think. Seems to me one of the tells was a prefix or suffix of "A" on the part number, which the earlier versions didn't have. Another way to avoid the "poping sound" is to stay away from the Vatican. (joke) Or grow old and live with diminished hearing. (no joke)
