Shelby and the plan for the Super Snake wheels

Robert,

We have all read how the current vintage SS wheels are being discontinued. Can you please enlighten us as to what the plan is going forward? it occurred to me earlier today that this would be a great time to introduce a similiar design that was perhaps a bit wider in such a manner that they would stick out and not under the car (meaning no issue with rub, relocation bump stop brackets, removing the shock cover etc). Also, something that would make it unnecessary or undesirerable to send our wheels out to get widened to 11.00/12.00 inches in order to acheive some degree of better traction.

We can only comment about the Alocas (non-SS branded), which are being discontinued. The Aloca SS wheels are a production decision and we don't know what their time frame will be.

How about a more general question then. Does SA have any plans, or is it being discussed to release a wheel package which will address both the width and height clearance issues GT 500 and SS owners encounter when looking to go to wider wheels in order to achieve improved traction? I'm not looking for any sort of confirmation, but rather just a thumbs up that the topic has been raised, they powers that be feel our pain etc.

And, do you hae any plans in mind for replacing the non-SS branded Alocas with something?

Vaguely,

Jeff

Good luck with this one. You would have a better chance of winning the lotto than getting this question answered.

Isn’t this a lot like asking Ford what they are going to do with the 2013 – 14 Mustang, and if the GT500 will have 650 HP. I’m sure Shelby has known for some time that the SS wheels were coming to an end. Maybe it’s a blessing in disguise. All things need refreshed from time to time including the SuperSnake.

Can you give us/me any indication as to whether or not the current design Alcoa Dura-Bright 10-spoke wheels will be used on a 2013 Super Snake or not?

I am seriously considering trading in or selling my 2010 GT500 and buying a '13 then having SA upfit it to a Super Snake...but I *really* like the Dura-Brights in their current configuration.

Having said that, I do have a brand new (unbadged) set of Alcoa's sitting in boxes on my shelf so I could always add them to a SS if the wheels you plan to use don't suit me.

It would be nice to know because my decision to SS or not to SS the car will impact my decision to buy a '13...or not.

I asked Roger in another thread about plans for the 2013 SS but was met with the usuall "Shelby Cone of Silence".
