SAAC Northern California is putting on another track event at Thunderhill Raceway in Willows on October 15th and 16th. I just signed up and I am wondering who else on TS is going.

If it was a Sears or Laguna, I'd be all over it, but Thunderhill is a haul...

I had a little trouble with cooling at Thundehill. In the afternoon sessions I was overheating. Lost a lot of coolant through the coolant tanks as the 16PSI caps were losing pressure. During one session I saw the water temp gauge (stock) peg out and then go back to normal levels after I backed off. I had to pull off the track and call it a day after that happened; bummer.

Not sure what the problem was but the car is going to the shop to check out the engine, exhaust, brakes and and suspension to check out any issues after a hard day at the track. Because it got hot I will have to change some of the fluids.

Anyway, anybody can guess what the issue could be? I have a stock radiator so that may be the weak link and problem. I was thinking a possible cracked head gasket but the car made is home fine (3 hour drive) without any issues. I checked that the fan was running as well and that was ok. A very odd symptom I also observed was that the right side of the exhaust appeared to be blowing exhaust at a higher temp than the left; weird.

What I will definitely do this week is replace the stock radiator with a C&R radiator and get some gauges in the car. I definitely want to know the water temp, oil pressure and fuel pressure in the future when running hard on the track. I don't care too much about the boost and I will rely on the stock gauge for that.
