clark17357
I ran that set up for a while. I did not take photos. A full size spare will fill your trunk. The space below the trunk "floor" is only the size of a donut. I purchased an air jack that I keep in the donut area to this day. In the end, it was not worth the agravation to keep a full sized spare in the trunk. One thing I do remember, however, is that the fiberboard that makes up the "floor" of the trunk (and by that I mean the area upon which the felt in the trunk lies) cannot support the weight of a full sized spare. You will need to put in a thicker "floor" to hold it. Good luck with all this. Jim

ilmor
I just put the full-size in the trunk on top of a tarp when I take long trips (although last time I didn't bother). Be careful to protect the bumper and trunk edge when wrestling it in and out. I haven't noticed any issue with support once in the trunk, but now that I see that mentioned I'll check it out... Realistically, how long does it take to lift the vehicle? Does the hose fit over the Shelby exhaust? Any problem with running the hose on one bank of exhaust (read restriction) and not the other? Then only problem I see is on a soft surface if the car is on grass with a flat the jack probably won't work. The spare is not like the small donuts the size is 185/60/R17. 2008GT-C
Check out this thread. Rex B
After having a flat tire 50 miles from mying my SGT, 150 miles form home on I35 in Oklahoma, and finding that little compressor setup instead of a spare, I decided I needed a real spare. So I found a 17" GT takeoff. it fit fine, although it raises the trunk floor about 1 inch. Later I got some SGT 18" takesoffs with worn tires. That fit just as well, but the trunk floor is now about 1.5" higher. Either tire is very snug in the well. I do wrap it in a black garbage bag to keep the paint clean. I would not use a 18" with full tread depth. For a jack, I bought the smallest aluminum racing jack at HF, and put a breaker bar with socket in the box. Oh, and I still keep a compressor/sealant emergency kit. I think eventually I'll get the donut spare with OE jack. My only question is whether the OE jack will work on a lowered car that is sitting on the rim on the side of the road. The exhaust air jack is probably the solution for that. That is why I got the exhaust air jack - I can get it under anything and it will work in sand, mud or (I hear) snow (being a SoCal boy I have little experience with snow that you don't find on a ski slope). By chance do you have the Brembo brakes or factory? I have thought about this but having put the Brembos on I think I would have to get a GT500 take off wheel and narrower low profile tire to cover the front. Other would be to find an 8" wide wheel that fits the Brembo to get the tire to fit the well in the trunk. Know that using on the rear with the locker could be a risk but plan is to run 50 mph and get to a tire dealer immediately. DrKSGT

MM&FF mag) is to reduce the width of a GT500 wheel through Weldcraft Wheels of Livonia, Michigan. Cut it down to 7" wide, slap on a tire that matches the overall diameter of your current tires (Tire Rack specs are good for that), and you're done. -Tom

EL SHELBY
I've considered getting a flat jack. At a 1000lb lifting capability I would use it unless it was an emergency. Linky
