302 Boss Key....

Recommended Posts

The video is funny.....but the situation for the Boss owners sure stinks. The hype on having this car is to have the "Fun Key" with it. No key and it's just another cool looking 5.0 GT with some nice mods. IMO Ford should of never released the car knowing that the track key was an issue.

I wonder, if like Shelby and the Shelby mod shops, the TracKey could be distributed to area tuners that are interested so that they can still be installed post-title without dealership involvement? Heck ,why couldn't SA even be one those?

Problem with that is there are too many variables where things can go wrong and when a engine goes "kaboom", no one would want the blame. Furthermore, $.....

Having driven a Boss with a track key, I would not buy one now if it never materializes. It is not only the power, but the lope it gives us....AMAZING. I am positive it will happen, just when???

Watch the video before Ford has it pulled...LOL

OH....Dan...the track key is for all BOSS 302's, not just the LS...hehe

Really............I didn't know that. In that case, I may need to look at the non-LS Boss 302 (when the track key comes out).

Does not having the Trackey stink? You betcha. But most of us Boss owners sure don't think this car stinks without the Trackey, just ask Roger.......3- 5% more power with the Red key is not that much. If you can't wait for the loping sound just install a 3/4'' discs in the quad exhaust. The Boss was designed to beat the BMW M3 on the track, enough said.

The hype on having this car is that it's radically different and more capable than a 5.0 on the track. It is no comparison to a GT500 on the road course, due to the powertrain, balance, and suspension mods. It's hardly a sticker package. I'm kicking my own a$ on track compared to my HEAVILY modified GT500. Big tracks and technical tracks, I'm running 3-5 seconds faster in the Boss in mostly stock form.....all WITHOUT TracKey. The only mods are c/c plates and brake and trans cooling (which are standard on the Laguna Seca)

Here are some facts to explain why it's not just another cool looking 5.0 GT with some nice mods. The engine is significantly modified for both output and durability. You can't simply mod a 5.0 to achieve these same results without effectively rebuilding the motor from the bottom up.

"When we first reported on the new BOSS 302 engine earlier this year, we knew then it was going to be something more than the base 2011 Mustang GT 5.0 power plant. The only thing we didn't know was how comprehensive the changes were and what the final output would be."
