Hit Man
My GT 500 should arrive in April. I plan to take many road/touring trips, and I am concerned about common road hazzards such as rocks and bugs which might ding or chip the front end. The questions I have are: who all has or is planning on using a front end bra? Which manufacturer is the best? What are some drawbacks if a bra is used ( such as scratches of rubs in the pain finish ) and if so is this out weighed for front end protection? Some of the manufacturers I found are Colgan, Lebra, ( CarCovers does not list a Shelby GT 500 model) Thanks, Joe

Dropping__Chronic
It's always been told to me that car bras scratch the pain as they flutter in the wind? I'd look for taht 3M Clearbra adhesive clear piece for your front end to protect it, at least that is removable and won't scratch the paint. Sherri Leicht
I've had one on my 01 cobra most of the time from the start and have had no problems. I got the Ford one and it fits very tight. I regularly take it off and Zaino the hood and bumper heavily. From the looks of the bra, it has saved many nicks and chips.

What is your opinion about the one report of someones paint pealing off when some sort of clear bra product was removed. Also, does the 3M protect pretty good. Thanks The clear bra is the only way to go in my opinion. 1) You maintain the original look of the front of the car. 3) I've had no nicks. 3) Go with 3M or a reputable product. 4) The paint doesn't come off. 5) Cover the stripes as well (they're right in the middle and havre a good chance of getting nicked). 6) Don't have a dealer do it, have an aftermarket specialist do it...it's the difference between $600 and $2,000 at the dealer. If you were in Northern California I have the perfect company. Good luck P.S. I've often wondered why someone would want to cover up the front of a Shelby with bulky leather material and take away from the beauty of the car. JMO. I have seen this stuff pull the paint off when being removed for whatever reason. I'm not saying it will do that every time, but I saw it happen on my buddies Factory Five Cobra. I personally do not like the looks of the clear stuff. I'm going with the Colgans bra and only plan on having it on the car when I'm travelling on the highway. SVTpower
People that have issues with their paint are the ones leaving these vinyl bras on forever 365 days a year. I want it for the occasional longer trip hitting the highways. i.e. driving to Evo's
