Team Shelby NE & The Simeone Museum Present The Cars of Carroll Shelby

GT50040th

Recommended Posts

Join us on September 17th for a day dedicated to the appreciation of some of the milestone automobiles created by Carroll Shelby.

Team Shelby Northeast and the Simeone Museum will be your hosts for an event that will bring together enthusiasts, a former Shelby employee, original and 'new generation' Shelby's, and some very historical Shelby vehicles, including the first Cobra Daytona Coupe ever produced.

This is sure to be a great Team Shelby event. The Simeone Museum has gone out of their way to host this special event with guest speaker Chuck Cantwell. Chuck was the lead engineer for Shelby American in the 60's in charge of developing the GT350 and the GT500 projects.

The Simeone Museum has one of the Nations largest display of historic race cars and Team Shelby is proud to be a part of this great event.

Bring your Shelby!

We also will be hosting a Team Shelby Car Show the day of the event. Prizes will be presented for best of show.

Special thanks to Team Shelby member Bill Caron for playing a big part in putting this event together with the Simeone Museum. Thanks Bill!

Thanks John.

Helping to set this up has allowed me to connect a few of my passions together: Team Shelby, The Simeone Museum, and some historical automobiles associated with Carroll Shelby. :salute:

For those of you who have not been to the Simeone Museum, you are in for a treat. Dr. Simeone's collection is awe inspiring. His philosophy is that a car is only original once, and if it can be preserved as an original, it should be. He associated it with collecting fine art....if you had a Picasso or a Monet, and one day you noticed the paint was a little faded, or had begun to crack in an area, you certainly wouldn't call in someone to touch it up and paint over the work of "The Master". If you feel this way about paintings, then why wouldn't the same logic apply to vintage automobiles?

I am very excited about this event, and hope to see many of my Team Shelby brothers and sisters there. :grouphug:

Please follow the link John had provided in the first post, and pre-register yourself and your car. We would like to get as accurate a count as possible of the number of folks attending, to help with planning for parking requirements and other logistics.

If you have any questions, please post them here and I will answer them so that everyone can see them. :stats:

This should be an awesome day!!!!! :cheerleader:

To Team Shelby Members who are active on other Shelby / Mustang / Auto Enthusiast web-sites and forums.....

PLEASE feel free to talk about this event on other forums. This is not a Team Shelby exclusive event. The more the merrier. Bringing enthusiasts together and sharing our cars and our appreciation of the Shelby marque is what it's all about.

To direct others to this forum, you can cut and paste the below link:

To send them directly to the pre-registration web-page, you can use this link:

Let's try and raise as much awareness as we can for this event, and see how many folks we can get to attend. If it goes really well, who knows what we will able to do in conjunction with the Simeone in the future.

Just to make this clear, anything is allowed to attend or just ford powered or just Shelby's? On the registration page it says "Enter your Shelby into the Team Shelby/Simeone Museum Car Show " just want to make sure so it doesnt confuse ppl on MF

Thanks for the help!!!

Anyone (with any car) can attend the event. The judged car show would just be for Shelby's and Shelby related vehicles (Ford GT's, Superformance, replica and tribute cars, Alpine Tigers, etc.). This in not to be 'snobby', but this event is a Tribute to the cars of Carroll Shelby.

At some of the Simeone events in the past, just walking through the parking lot has been like being at a show....it's amazing what shows up. If you have a nice car (Shelby or otherwise) please bring it. Even if it's not in the show, there will be people looking at it, and it will be appreciated.

Are we having a Team Shelby show there as well? Would our registered cars be in a seperate area?

There is a separate show area for "Shelby" cars, not just Team Shelby cars. Team Shelby will be running the show. It is open to any Shelby related vehicle.

Other 'cool' cars are invited to attend as well. They will not be judged, or eligible for trophies (since the event is specifically a salute to the cars of Carroll Shelby), but will certainly be appreciated and admired. In the past I have seen Ford GT's, Ferrari's, Porsche's, BMW M3's & M5's, GT500's as well as Tiger, 427 replica, Fiat's, an older Lotus, Morgan, etc., just parked in the regular parking area.....the parking lot is a car show in itself.

  • 2 weeks later...

Just two weeks away at this point. :happy feet:

We just revised the T-shirt design last night, and we'll be ordering the car show awards in the next day or two.

Even if you are one of those folks who likes to keep your options open until the last minute (you know who you are), or don't pre-register for events because of potential bad weather (don't make me name names), please respond to this thread to let us know you at least intend to attend. Registration is going well, but we still have room for some more cars! I hope we get to the point where I need to go back to the Simeone, and tell them we need more room.

Just a couple days away now, and I'm getting pretty excited. :happy feet:

The Simeone Museum had two special posters made up for the event...both feature the Daytona. They are being printed right now so that they have them in time for this weekend.

The car show awards are done, and I think they came out great. Good luck to all who enter the show on taking one home.

Weather should be nice. Clear sky, and a little brisk.

Gates officially open at 10:00.

Looks like we'll have a nice turn-out.

See you there!!!!!
