emailcm
Well...just turned 40 and thought I'd rent the Shelby Hertz GTH for fun. Here are my thoughts so far. A) I love my GT500 way better. The GTH is fun, but there are a lot of little things I dislike. For example, most of it still looks like a Mustang GT. I really feel like the upgraded interior of the GT500 is just enough to make that car feel like a much better product. I don't know how to put it all in words, but if you rented one, you'd know what I mean. B) The ride on the GTH is really stiff...to stiff if you ask me. Can't take even the little bumps without a shot to the kidneys. C) The side scoops are kinda silly now that I get a chance to really look at it. They are non-functional. Looks like they are taped on to the car. I love the old side scoops of the 67 (which surved a purpose). In my opinion, Carroll should have worked out something functional for this car and that would have made it much more special. Well...I'm off to the toll roads to open it up...I'll post more later

eci
How does most of it look like a Mustang GT? ( as if that's a bad thing ) The Shelby GT-H has a different front bumper cover than a GT, different hood, different grille, and the side scoops. It deviates from a GT as much as the GT500 does imo from the outside. Most of the GT500 interior upgrades can be had on any GT in the form of the "Premier Trim Package" as well. As far as the handling, yes it is rough. It's a performance suspension. Did you get a chance to throw it around at all on some corners? Compared to a stock GT500, it can take corners much faster even with its crappy stock tires.
Sherri Leicht
I rented one out in Los Angeles back in January. It was a kick in the pants to drive and it gathered ALOT of attention from people wanting to talk about them. But it didn't quite have the throw you back in the seat feeling that my cobra has
emailcm
Here are the pics of car #268 I rented. Had a chance to take some high speed corners...car stuck to road like glue. However, managing day to day incline road entrances and pot holes sucked. You know, I guess to me it doesn't make too much sense to put on such a really nice racing suspension on a car that only comes with an automatic, traction control frozen in the "on" position and will only get driven 98% of the time on the streets. I can see now why the SVT guys made the GT500 the way it is. Anyway...here's my take away from this weekend: Pros A. Sounds great B. Black and Gold looks sweet C. Gets a ton of attention D. Love the hood (wish it was functional) E. Sticks to the road F. Rear disc brakes (does the GT500 have that?) Cons A. Fast, but not that fast (add a supercharger and this becomes a different animal) B. Rear spoiler same as GT C. Interior, same as GT (wish it was a Premium Upgraded) D. Would like to see a real Carroll Shelby signature on the dash plate (it's a sticker) E. Rims and tire size are same as GT (would love to see some F1's back there) F. Side scoop is silly (would love to see a functional sides scoop to cool the rear disc brakes)

emailcm
Thanks for the pics and the feedback. Just curious, what did it cost to rent for the weekend? It cost about $130.00 and you get 100 miles. I also got the LDW for an extra $35. After taxes it came out to $189 and change.

Just in case anyone else want to rent one, AAA has coupon codes that will get you a $99 unlimited milage rate on the GT-H I rented one in SFO last fall. Concur it was a fun ride for a rental and Hertz was very good about the whole experience. Had it for 4 days. The auto trans was terrible but I was fortunate that the TCS could be tured off in mine so was able to do a couple burn outs with Hertz tires
5.4 Shelby
A Sticker !!!! They should of done a nice plate. If they put real signatures on them Hertz would have to replace them after each rental as they would get stolen frequently.
