I have the FlowMaster American Thunder axle backs, #817496, on my 2011 Shelby, and I am pleased with the sound. These make the car sound like it has a few ponies under the hood. The only downside is the mufflers do set up a drone inside the car when the windows are up and the RPM’s are low (around 2K or less). I also had the installer extend the exhaust tips out about 1 ½”. You can go to the FlowMaster web site and hear the sound.
IA Shelby
I installed the roush 2011 axelback on my 2011 GT500. It says it is listed for the 5.0 but fit perfectly on the GT500. I believe the part # is 421127. I love the sound. Significantly louder, deeper than stock. Has a real throaty sound when cruising between 2-2500 rpm. It really barks at WOT. Everything else on my exhaust is stock. Read the reviews on american muscle on the different mufflers.

Hi IA SHELBY, did you have to remove the mid pipes to install your Roush exhaust on your gt500,or did you just lower the rear latteral bar to get the drivers side muffler out? thanks for any advise you can provide me-Tony

I was able to get under and wiggle them off. They are big and heavy but I got them off. It would no doubt been easier but who likes easy when you do it yourself. I also have changed mufflers out on my previous 2010 Gt and GT500 so I had an idea even thought the 11 12;s are using different hangers and mounts. I installed the Flowmaster American Thunder on my 2011 GT500 along with Ford Racing Headers and a Borla X-Pipe. It sounds freakin incredible and with a Tune it really moves. Just the mufflers alone will make you car sound really good but if you don't change to an X-pipe it's going to really make the car rumble and may be a bit too much.
