Dana Holmes
Hey there gang, So I am realizing that my SGT has "FORD" on it in several places and obviously "SHELBY" but nowhere does it say "MUSTANG". So I picked up a chromed metal script of a 1968 "Mustang" emblem with 3M sticky back tape and I applied this script to my dash just to the right on the passenger side. What do you all think? Look good/ look silly? I thought it gave it a touch of class Thanks - Dana
cobradad
Hi Dana, Silly is not quite the word I would use. I have an '07 and a '67 Shelby and I cringe every time someone asks "do you want to sell your mustang" I reply, "you mean my SHELBY?" and of course I say no for both cars. Keep the car a Shelby and let everyone know that is what it is. CC
AstroDan
I like it. Simple. What's more important; do you like it?
Dana Holmes
Hi there CC - I understand what you mean. I never thought of it that way. I was just looking for something unique to place on the dash. I spotted a few Shelby related emblems and also a "Powered by Hurst" emblem. I bought the "Powered by Hurst" emblem but it turned out to be made of plastic and looked kind of cheesy. Thanks for your insight though - very much appreciated to gather thoughts from Forum Members! Dana I think someone on the forum used a "Shelby GT" key chain medallion (with the "S" cobra like THIS) to make a "dash badge" and placed it close to that location. Not over the top, and very tasteful IMHO. But hey, it's YOUR car! Sam
Dana Holmes
I like it. Simple. What's more important; do you like it? Hello AstroDan - well, I did like it until I thought about Cobra Dads comments which placed it into a different perspective for me. It isn't permanent so I have time to think about it. I just thought it was something a little bit different than the rest. Oh, by the way - I like your CS69's choice in hyperblack! I just went with the same wheels about one month ago and I think they make my vista blue SGT look awesome! I also went with the SHELBY Cobra Center Caps for them as well. cobradad
Ok, My brain kept bugging me, "where did you see that script????" Now I know where I saw that script before. I checked one of the catalogs I have and it is close in style to one of the exterior trim pieces from a '68 mustang. Cost, $7.95. But like the guys said above, if you like it, keep it. That is what "customization" is all about. CC

CC Yep - that looks to be the part for sure. only thing is that the sticky back tape that comes with it isn't that strong so I pulled theirs off and am applying my own stronger 3M tape. EL SHELBY
Its' not my taste but I don't necessarily agree that the badge will confuse people about a Mustang vs. a Shelby (It is both by the way so anyone who calls a late model Shelby a 'Mustang' is correct.), confusion comes from a lack of Shelby & Mustang education, not badges. If it causes people to stop and comment, you will then have an opportunity to educate and share the Shelby love. If you like it and want to pay homage to the '68 Mustang that the '05-'09's embody I say you've done it, and in a classy way.
Dana Holmes
Thanks El Shelby! You nailed it right there! Dana
SteelTownStang
I had the same script on my 07 GT, which looked good, however, I would maintain the Shelby theme on the SGT... FYI- There are some Mustang remnants on your car. Look at the windshield above your rearview mirror. You'll see the running pony/mustang. Also, you can't see it, but the word M U S T A N G is molded into the plastic under your sills.
Dana Holmes
Hey thanks, I will check that out when I get home. I had to run out and get a new battery because my MotorCraft died after 4500 miles and sitting in my garage for extended lengths! Dana

cobradad
If I remember a previous post the blue glow came from a lighted air freshener that was chopped off and the Shelby emblem put in it's place. I'm sure it looks good at night. Especially if you have the gauge lights matching. CC
