mullens
Trying to get a consensus on how often people are cleaning their oiled filter. My AirRaid has about 7k miles on it an still looks fairly clean.
BDrool
Had mine ever since the paper went bad. I haven't cleaned it yet but I am planning on it soon....probably about 3.5K on it. BTW, I also clean the sensor with CRC brand cleaner every time I take the filter off.
Burning Blue Star IV
I just got the non-oiled version today...The stock one was really dirty - had about 10K on it. Looks like a good alternative and this one you just wash when it gets dirty.
BDrool
Pulled my Air Raid and this is what it looked like after about 4k miles. You can't really see how dirty it is with out removing it. The intake is very clean, wiped inside and no residue, especially on the MAF. Sprayed the MAF, anyway, with CRC MAF air sensor cleaner. Will reinstall when the air filter is dry and re oiled. mullens
You're right..I didn't really notice how dirty it was until I removed it (especially where the cold air intake is on the '10)..mine looked the same way. Cleaned and oiled it. Looks great now. The tube and MAF were completely dry. In another post David from Airraid said that the layered design of their filter makes it near impossibe to get oil on the MAF. I always err on the light side of oiling. Better too little than too much. I know Airraid suggests 30k-50k cleaning intervals. No way out here. I'm going to start checking it every oil change. kawwy600
what's the benefit of the oil vs non-oiled version?
Goose17
what's the benefit of the oil vs non-oiled version? I went with the oiled version initially and was disappointed to see the nice blue color fade to grey in a little over a month. After speaking with the Airaid rep, I discovered this is normal for the blue oiled filters. Got the non-oiled and it stayed blue.
10SHELBY
I'm using the non oiled K&N (red) and love it. I heard bad things about the Airraid from the folks at JLT. Rudy

bigsnake
what's the benefit of the oil vs non-oiled version? Guess the biggest benefit is the obvious one,you don't have to oil the dry one just dip wash and let it air dry.
05mustangman
I used to work at Airaid and I strongly believe their products are fantastic. That's why even though I don't work with them anymore, I will still continue to use their products on all of my cars. It's part of the manufacturing process that just makes their filters one of the best on the market and have the best protection. Right now I have the oiled blue filter, which as stated earlier, only stayed blue for like a month. So the next I will get is the non-oiled blue filter.
