David Hawkins
Businesses are making it very easy for me to save Money thanks to the “Trickle Down Theory”. I went to Taco Bell today to pick up Lunch. I always get just 4 Regular Crunchy Tacos to go. Last Year, they were $0.89 each and I was ok with that and went there often. About 6 Months ago they went up on their Prices and the Tacos were $0.99 each. I cut back on going there. Today, that same Taco is now $1.09 and Today was my last Day going to Taco Bell. So, Taco Bell can now be added to the List of Businesses being credited to helping me save Money. Trickle Down Theory, the Ripple Effect, Catch 22, no matter which one you call it, it is happening with all Businesses, mainly because they just don’t get it. They lose Customers because they Raised their Prices & They Raise their Prices again to make up for the Money they are losing because of fewer Customers. I have been saying for a long time that Companies are pricing themselves out of Business. A lot of Businesses just don’t Get It. You don’t have to make Payroll on the First Day of the Month. I can keep ranting about this, but I wont. What Companies have you stopped doing Business with because of Price Increases.

ejrail
Our Mini-Mart used to charge $1.25 for coffee. Our company gave us employees a 10% discount. The company took away the discount, gave us a 10% pay cut and raised the price to $1.50 for employees and customers. I went to Wally World, bought a coffee maker and a micro-wave, both for about $80. Now I make my own coffee and bring leftovers from home to re-heat. I paid for my investment in 60 days.

My wife has been a manager for them for 8 and a half years. We have employee discount cards that make it tough not to shop there. BIKEBOY
David brings up an interesting theory with this thread though. His point is well taken here. Although I would never even flinch at the price of a 10cent increase of a taco...I get what he's saying. We had our bicycle store for just north of 10 years. I ALWAYS told my customers that said to me, "Don't worry about it...you're busy, go ahead and help someone else" my reply: "Are you kidding me? You are my customer too!" That's the most ridiculous thing I ever heard in business from a customer. You open the doors every day to help EVERY customer and make him happy enough to hopefully open his wallet, so that you can pay the rent to open the doors tomorrow...and so on, and so on! I digress here a bit, but the theory is the same. You gotta do whatever it takes to keep customers coming back each and every day. The day you forget why you're there, is the day your customers will forget that you're there! Wow, I'm pretty impressed with myself right now...those are good words to live by! Lol!! car dude
I agree the price of everything is going up and it really sucks. But we need to stop and ask WHY the price of corn and fuel and beef wheat insurance health care and can pretty much all the basic essentials have Gone up. companies cannot continue to eat the cost of raw materials it takes to bring a product to market. we have to ask and research why. it's easy to think that companies or just being greedy. but there bigger things at work we just need to open our eyes and look. just look at the value of the dollar and compare it with whats happening with the federal reserve . I don't see it as Company Greed....... I see it as Company OWNER Greed. Always trying to top Last Years Profits, if they don't, they consider it a Loss. I feel that if you made a Profit, it was a good Year regaurdless of the amount of Profit. If they made a Profit of $500,000.00 for 2009 and for 2010 made a PROFIT of $300,000.00, they don't brag that the made a Profit, they cry that they LOST $200,000.00 instead. Politicians do the same thing. Thay will have a program that cost 1,000,000 dollars.and ask for a 10 percent increase. when thay only get a 5 percent increase they go screaming and crying that the program was cut.the fact is the price of raw materials have gone up.and it is costing more to do business today 1 reason the price of corn is going up is the ethanol subsidies. there is less corn to use a for food production so corn is now in demand and the prices artificially raised because were subsidizing ethanol. Funny you should mention Corn........The History Channel did a show on Fast Food and Corn was part of it........The USA produces 40% of the Worlds Corn and the mentioned all the products that use Corn and WOW, I would not have guessed 60% of the productes BUT, only 30% of Corn Raised Globlely goes for Food Products........I was shocked considering all the Food related Products they mentioned. I understand that there is always a Cost Increase in Raw Materials, I still believe it is Greed that increases the Prices, it's when a Businesses is crying that they only Profited $300,000.00 instead of $500,000.00 so they raise there Prices to make up for it that pisses me off. They still PROFFITED $300,000.00..............
