Anyone seen one or have one?

Yes, I have one.................

It is available as shown in your picture above with the black piece below the knob for use were the OEM shifter boot that comes up to the bottom of the shift ball, or as I have shown in my picture with the bright metal lock nut for use with the upgrade Shelby shifter.

I like the look of the Super Snake ball, however, I do not like a White shifter ball to be the center of attention in a dark interior. << Just my opinion..........

The SPP is also a little on the small side (diameter wise) for my hand size. Grabber Pony offers custom shifter balls in this same smaller size, and in a size that is a little larger.

I chose to have a lesser "stand out" shifter ball in a larger size for my hand. The shifter ball below does not stick out like a sore thumb in a dark interior, but it is just enough to be noticed as being Cool!!

I'm also interested...my GT500 should arrive at SA today. Just to maintain the aesthetic integrity of the car (mine is black on black w/hints of red--seat stripes and brakes), the black ball shifter will blend into the interior rather than the white ball--which immediately focuses anyone's attention to that one spot. It might seem like a shift knob is inconsequetial against everything else that goes into the SS, but it actually very distracting. The only thing that would further complement the black ball in my set up would be a red shift pattern etched into the ball.

In any event, Jeremy directed me to Shelby American Motorsports and reminded me that everything I do through them will be recorded in the registry.

I hope these become available…subscribed!

Grabber Pony does the engraving in many colors. I chose the Satin Silver because it blended with the dash pieces that are Silver, again, a subtle touch. That same ball could have been made with White, or even the Red as you have mentioned. The only thing about the Red engraving..............would it match the a Crimmson interior Red panels? or would the engraved Red stick out as not matching what was already red on the interior pieces? I could also have ordered a Torch Red ball with Black engraving. The Torch Red would match the exterior paint, but would it match the interior Crimmson?

I agree with the Shelby registered items and that is why I also have a unique "Shelby" authorized knob. Will SA or SPP use a vendor like Grabber Pony for other shift knob options?................

Like RobertM's hood pins, I believe he received that black "Super Snake" shift ball as a custom one off piece. I think he got that ball 25 years ago and it was a gift.

No, the shift ball is readily available through Grabber Pony, or at least it was. It cost me right at $100. I chose the size of the ball itself (2 sizes to choose from), the ball color (many color choices), speeds (5, 6 etc.) and the engraving text and color. They also offer multiple thread sizes and pitches, that also has to be chosen. If I remember correctly, the Shelby shifter (which I have) and the OEM shifter are not the same thread, but I am not positive of this.

The hood pins..................yes, those are as you discribed.

25 years ago, gift, ha-ha!! ; )

Color matching would be a concern (have to wonder how white fits into the standard interior). Perhaps Grabber Pony could assist in color matching based on the actual red/crimson red...don't imagine that would be hard to accomplish. Nevertheless, even a black ball (w/white or gray/silver) etched pattern would flow a little more organically with the interior. Funny, the same thing I dislike about the white ball is the same thing I like about it...it's too distinctive. At once a classic piece announcing all the ready potential at the driver's command, yet conveying such an aberrant, almost arrogant sense of power it appears a stigma.

As soon as I take delivery, I'll look into what can be done....

If you want to see a White ball in a standard (non-Crimmson option) interior, look at some of the GT500KR photo's on ebay. The White ball is cool because it brings back the "appearance" of the old days when an owner would install a Hurst shifter and the standard ball that came with that shifter was White.

I bought my Black ball about 1.5 years ago, there was no Super Snake striped ball offered by SPP at that time, I wanted something different from OEM, and the Blue letter "Shelby" shift ball that was offered was a nice piece, but not the "look" I was looking for. Since that time, SPP now offers a Super Snake White ball, I bought one to have with my car. I may use it from time to time? It is a neat piece...............

I've seen a number of interiors w/the white ball...I just meant I was uncertain why Shelby went w/white--as opposed to something that might blend in a bit more. However, what you're suggesting is that stand-out aspect may be exactly why the white ball has become the now historical ornament signifying those "old days." It's not that I don't appreciate the sense of antiquity, but merely have a different taste.
