After a year of seting in my garage I thought this would be a good weekend to get it out and check it over and drive it. spent most of saturday servicing and cleaning it up. Was out cruising in it tonight and found a 06 z06 looking to play, to make this short I cleaned him by 4 car lenghts in the 1/4. He couldnt believe it !! Just thought I would share this with more than myself :happy feet:

Nice kill... but why has it been parked for a year???

As you just found out, driving these Shelby's is a kick...

You should do this more often. happy%20feet.gif

Your 500 is either significantly modified for power or the Z06 was piloted by some yuppie that just pulled out of Starbucks. The Z06 is about 800 lbs, lighter and digs out from a start far better than the nose heavy

GT500. Stock vs stock that Z06 runs the table on your 500.

Nice comments , he has a great time with a Vette and you let us know how the guy must have been some goober and his GT500 is fat and nose heavy. :headscratch:

I was at a car show and sitting next to a KB Z06, and so you know, he was making over 700 hp to my stock GT500. Well as the afternoon progressed a group of friends were all standing around and some goober says to me in front of everyone, why don't you race that Z06, I bet he'll beat you....

I smiled (only me knowing that the vette owner and I were actually friends) and said, I have a standing offer for any vette owner. I'll race for $10,000. 1/8, 1/4, standing mile, 10 mile, or road track, doesn't matter, but no one has taken up my offer....I'll race them anytime, anyplace....and the first one across the finish line with his/hers 3 best friends in the car wins, oh, wait, that's right, Vette owners don't have 3 friends.....Well that got the kid to shut up and some laughs, then I proceeded to explain to him the importance of knowing your food chain. A vette shouldn't be compared to a Shelby, Shebly never built it to compete with it. People are all over how the ZR1 will just crush a Shelby....oh really? Apples to Apples? It would be up against a Ford GT....so not so much. Look in the 60's...the Vette was crushed by Shelby and a little Sunbeam looking car...not a Mustang.

I've taken most any Vette, but do stay away from anything above a Z06. Almost got taken by a CTSv, they will suprise you.

The fact that SSO took a Z06 just tells me, you know exactly what your car will do, and are not afraid to do it. Cheers to you.

As far as Speedys comment, that's to be expected with new members. He must think this some typical Mustang site. This is and always been a site where that sort typical posting doesn't happen. And that members here are above the same ol type of posting.

What he should have posted was, not what he knew and thought was wrong with SSOs post, but,

Wow, you smoked a Z06 that bad? What do you have in your car?

Because it could be that his GT500 is putting out 800HP and it would be interesting to see how he got it there. Then if there was doubt, unclick the email notification for that thread and don't trust what that user posts.

Lighten up Dude. The guy failed to disclose the fact that his paricular 500 was significantly power enhanced which could produce the stated results even with a well driven stock Z06. I have driven several C6 Z06s and owned a lightly modified '08 GT500 and can tell you that a stock GT500 is not in the same league with a Z06. Just keep it real. All good.

Speedyboy, why so much negativity? I would have to say that 90% of your posts are negative and it's really not necessary. I've cooked every Z06 that has tried to race me, and once with the AC on. Oh, and I'm not telling you what I did to my car. All Good Dude!

Gary,

They don't call 'em KRs for nothing... :hysterical::hide:

I envy you! I've never had the chance to go with a Z06. I did come across one a few months while on a cruise and when I pulled beside it the driver looked over at me and promptly got off at the very next off ramp. I was bummed as I really wanted to see how close it would've been.

And now queue Speedyman's sarcasic remark about KRs in 3...2...1...

Yeah, good for you. Do you realize that a stock Z06 can run high tens right off the showroom floor. Anyone up for another round of the Kool Aide.

I didnt share my experience with my shelby brotherhood to keep hearing someone keep putting these damn vettes on a pedistal. I'm nothing but a ford guy, maybe thats why this bothers me so much. As you can see by my low posts to the time of my membership to this site, this is why read more than post, due to rude remarks.... thanks for all the positive feedback. It was alot of fun and the first vette match up and happened to be a z06.. :yahoo: the day these vettes quite being compared to mustangs wont come soon enough, if i remember right i think the ford gt was the vette killer , it just so happens when you here of a stang beating one of these vettes , the vette lovers start belly-achen-stock for stock........ :poke:

Don't mind speedy. He is our resident killjoy. When he isn't starting flame wars in the KR forum he is putting down every other Shelby owner.

Speedy, what do YOU drive?? You've avoided this question from day one...

Unfortunately you find the need for make this personal, fine. Have never "avoided" anything. I change vehicles as often as some guys change their underwear. Currently have an '11 CTS Coupe, '08 LS3 Corvette, '08 CBR1000rr and an '07 Wide Glide 107". Had an '08 GT500 preceeded by 13 other Mustangs, 6 Corvettes and bunch of other stuff. Does that make me as good as you?

Speedy that's one unofficial *supposedly stock ZO6. Take the average of them and your in the mid 11s. Quit bench racing and looking on the internet for far fetched tales.... just so you know because your having trouble with google search, the 2011 ZR1 stock does the 1/4 mile in 11.1

If you don't believe me do a google search, it's everywhere.

I don't base people on their cars, but apparently you do.

I never made this personal but when you continue to add ZERO to the site and insist on being a troll expect some $hit thrown back at you. Troll on kid. I only wish I can be as cool as you some day. Then I too can say " I buy new cars like some guys change their underwear." LOL

Here are some ZR1 runs with videos for you to explain away. http://forums.corvette.com/c6-corvette-zr1/2808968-the-c6-zr1-1-4-mile-and-standing-mile-fast-list.html There is enough denial in this thread to talk the national debt down to a surplus. Unbelieveable.

I'm sorry if you cant handle the fact I spanked one of your beloved vettes, but I did , and did bad...... it was piloted by a well know regular drag racer from my town,.. so throw that excuse out the window, he did have some mods on that $hitbox also..... you need to learn street racing is just that not drag racing at a track,.. I dont support street racing but in my moment it happend. I told him before we went for it he was going to win, so i was amazed at the out come, I had been driving my car for a couple of hours with air on in the 90s, car was heat soaked bad.. we went from a 15 mph rolling start, he said go and I was gone, He coundnt believe the out-come either and said I won fair and square, his loss must of been due to his passengers extra weight.. :hysterical:

You simply do not get it along witih a few others here. Any car can be made faster. There are 4 cyl rice burners out there that have been modified and would destroy your GT500 along with the Z06 you tangled with in a street race or sanctioned off road drag race. The point is that a factory stock Z06 runs the table on any assembly line GT500. That is reality sir, deal with it.

Damn with a garage that full your insurance premiums must equal a whole lotta hard work. Lets see some pics. Preferrably with them all in one shot.

The cars we drive never make any of us cooler or better than the other. Or maybe they do, better at wasting money.

a stage 2 kit is not a major performance improvment to my nose heavy slow shelby... I would bet if mine was "stock" I would have still beat him with his mods, just not as bad. Your the one with oneway ears and all day on corvette forums. If i raced another one would i loose ,,very damn possible. thanks for hijacking my thread, its not my fault you have a garage full of gm junk now.... and also you need to learn that real life events are better than magazine articles. :sing_rain:

Yeah...I'm with SVT NAJA on this...I would drive more often. hehe. Much more fun!

As far as the race with the vette or anything else going on this thread...I bought my GT500 because I liked it. I don't care about what other cars will do or anything else along those lines.
