Maadbeats
After seeing steeltownstang's pics of his painted engine brace. I decided to have a go at it. Lowes had my automotive white and matching metallic blue. So pleased with the outcome. Might be the cheapest mod I will ever make.

Maadbeats
Looks good! Nice job. Thanks now I need to get rid of the ugly radiator cover.
TexasShelby
Yeah, I had mine powder coated, along with my hood braces. As far as ugly radiator covers go, I had to do something back in 07....This is what I have and this is on the wish list.

Did you have to strip or sand it before you painted it ? What paint did you use ?
Maadbeats
Didnt sand or strip. Gave it a good wash and used some automotive spray paint. Need to clear coat it. Totally forgot that step
SPEEDY168
How did you get the paint to match so well?
Maadbeats
How did you get the paint to match so well? Believe or not Lowes had an automotive white and a normal metallic blue. Took a chance and they matched dead on. I also noticed that duplicolor automotive paints have the same match in colors. Plus the white is made for high temps. 2kgt281
Looks good! A painted brace is a nice underhood touch. I did mine a while back, with a small twist. I prefer a more "industrial" (i guess you could say) look under the hood. So instead of gloss clear coat, I used a satin clear. A bit tough to capture in a pic but you can see the brace and the carbon inlet have been done. More apparent in person. and looks great IMO! SPEEDY168
The paint I found at Lowes said not to use it on surfaces that might exceed 200 degrees. I would love to do this, but that does cause me some concern. What do you think ?

TexasShelby
I don't think I'd chance it... The heat under that hood get's pretty hot. I'd look for some high temp paint...maybe not engine paint, but I know there are some high temp offerings out there. This is what was first on a bing search...I used VHT years ago and it was awesome then. VHT METALLIC. Under hood engine dress-up never looked this good, or stood up to high-heat temperatures like VHT Engine Metallic.
