Bought a Shelby...Can't believe it!!!!!!!

Well, after all my blabbing of promising to buy in the U.S., I ended up buying locally today. It was pretty hard to pass up as Ford had their employee pricing promo on various vehicles including the Shelby which I'm told rarely happens!

It turns out, they brought several in from Ontario that arrived today and what a selection. They all looked hot including the white with grabber blue stripes, red w/ black stripes, Kona Blue w/ white stripes & the one I went with was the stealth look I've had my eye on since the get go, the black w/ matte black stripes. All are 2011, but no SVTPP or Nav, but the wide stripes are great and it has the Shaker 1000 in it. I liked the look of the Nav, but in the end I'm really pumped about my new car!

I'm pretty sure I did ok on it....Sticker was almost 62K and with the employee pricing, it was 55800 or so. I got them to 54500 and got a Shelby cover thrown in too. Tried to get that price GST in, but jut got a bit of the reduction instead.

Damn, what a feeling...Pick it up next week & will post pics everyone.

Thanks so much SS.....I'm still vibrating from the whole purchase.....You're right, these cars are great and it's funny when you tell people what kind of car it is, their jaw just drops....Quite the attention getter! I fell in love as soon as I started it up today and pretty much drooled walking around the lot. Feels great to finally take the plunge. :happy feet:

Congrats on jumping in!.

Tell us how long it takes before you feel like jumping into the "mod" world. It's funny what happens with the mod and horsepower drugs. Once you have some, you want more. Remember, if you do jump in to the modifications, it's a marathon, not a sprint.

Hey Rob welcome to a world of smiles and looks, you will have lots of smiles driving and you will get lots of looks with that stealth color combo. We should get a cruise going together with all the edmonton and area owners this summer. I Know at first you won't want to mod but trust me it won't be long, hopefully you can make the Apex casino on Tuesday for the car show it's supposed to be nice....24 and sunny for a change.. :D

Hey Mark;

Thanks so much buddy and looking forward to some cruising for sure this summer. It's funny about the mod thing too, the more I read about it, amazing how addictive it can get by doing that alone. I'll have to start creating a wish list and like some in here said," it's a marathon not a sprint...". Besides, I can't afford a sprint, lol. Would love to make the Apex on Tues, but gotta be home after work that day, but we'll hook up soon for sure. Thanks for the invite; should be picking the car up this week; just shopping on the best insurance rates right now.

BTW, I know black is a little more maintenance to keep looking good, but I'm more than okay spending time with my car. I ended up just getting the paint protection / shine with Ford which guarantees the paint job to an extent, but I don't want to be adding stuff unnecessarily either.

Did any of you get the 3M protection film at all on the front? I have it on one of my daily driving vehicles, but of course with white, you can see the colour difference to and from the film, but it does work preventing chips. Of course the GT500 will be a pleasure car so no where near the miles that I put on my regular vehicles.

Also, what's the best type of cloth to wipe it down all the time to keep it looking good?

Thx.

Just picked up my new Shelby this afternoon! OMG, OMG, OMG......Even better than I anticipated. Handles and rides like a dream!!! Love that new car smell too. Needless to say, breaking her in easily, but got a chance to tromp on it a bit, within reason and I couldn't stop smiling. Took my kids for a little jaunt too and they loved it too. I'm going to take my baby out as often as I can when it's nice out; summer is just way too short around here!

I have pics coming soon too. Thanks again everyone!
