Nice Press Release the promotors of Fun Ford Weekend put together:

TEAM SHELBY MEMBERS WILL ATTEND FUN FORD WEEKEND KICK-OFF

Sunday, June 26, 2011

MORRISON, Colo. (June 21, 2011) – Fun Ford Weekend is swinging back into action this week as fans, racers and vendors get ready for the 2011 season kick-off at Bandimere Speedway in Morrison, Colo. The event will be held this Sunday, June 26th with gates opening at 8 am to spectators, participants and vendors.

The midway will include displays from presenting series sponsors Roush Yates and JE Pistons, as well as local vendors including Team Shelby Mountain Region.

Team Shelby consists of eight groups: Great Lakes, Mississippi Valley, Mountain Region, Northeast, Northern Plains, Pacific Coast, South Atlantic, and Southern Plains. While many of the Mountain Region members will be represented at the Fun Ford Weekend this Sunday, several other divisions of Team Shelby will be in attendance as well.

“Team Shelby members get together all around the world to share their passion for both the man [Carroll Shelby] and the cars he has produced since 1962,” said Team Shelby Mountain Region Director Jeff Jacobucci.

Team Shelby stemmed from an idea brought about by Carroll Shelby. He wanted a separate club where car owners could come together and dream up new ways to make their cars faster and better, while swapping stories of their latest adventures at the track. His goal was to bring all of these enthusiasts together, along with their Super Snakes, Hertz cars, Cobras, Shelby GT’s, Mustang GT’s with Shelby performance parts, Series 1’s, GLH’s, Vipers and GT500’s.

“Team Shelby is the place for all Shelby Enthusiasts to celebrate everything Shelby,” added Jacobucci, and this Sunday Fun Ford Weekenders will be able to experience the “Shelby world” firsthand.

A Shelby information booth will be on-site where Jacobucci and his wife will have some Shelby merchandise available including three new items from Shelby Signature Foods: a Shelby mesquite barbecue sauce, an all natural Shelby habanero salsa and a Shelby beef and pork rub

For this Sunday’s Fun Ford Weekend, special parking areas will be available for any Shelby auto1962 and newer, which may be showing and/or racing.

“It’s amazing to see that at 88 years old, Carroll Shelby still has the same passion for building Ford performance vehicles that he did when he was 38. Today you can upgrade your Shelby GT500 to 800 horsepower, and he’s also building a limited number of 1,000 horsepower street Shelby Mustangs. He has a smile and a twinkle in his eye when he talks about that one!” added Jacobucci.

Jacobucci will have three of his personal cars at this weekend’s event: A 2006 Hertz Shelby “Rent a Racer” Mustang, a 1989 #001 Kenny Brown/AutoKraft Short Wheelbase Thunderbird and a 1994 #006 AutoKraft Short Wheelbase Lincoln Mark VIII.

Sunday, June 26, 2011

<SNIP>

For this Sunday’s Fun Ford Weekend, special parking areas will be available for any Shelby auto1962 and newer, which may be showing and/or racing.

Jeff,

I am planning on attending and participating. At this point I'm leaning towards racing AND showing but may end up just showing (my C&R HE won't be here in time).

How do I get involved in the "Special parking area" for my Shelby Mustang GT500?

And should I register as a Shelby or as a Mustang???

Getting there before 8am will be a little rough but I plan on it. I may sign up for the Race/Show and decide on the racing part once I'm there. I only started preparing my car yesterday realizing it was this upcoming weekend when I saw it on the news so I'm a little 'behind the curve' right now (i.e. UNprepared).

See you there,

I'll be up top assisting in parking. Designated areas by class will be marked with signs. You should not be able to miss it. You will want to register as a Shelby. If the same as before, you will go to the registration table after you get parked. It will not be a problem I'm sure if you are not there until after 8:00. As long as you are there by 10:00 I don't think that we'll have a parking issue.

OH!

I was under the impression that judging started at 9am so you HAD to be there by 8.

I think I read that on the FFW page that Phil Long Ford sent out.

I will double check. Was planning on being there BY 8am but 9 would really be nice if I could do that....

I also left a message on the CSBC forum for you so you may or may not see a dupe of my questions.

Thanks,

Phill

Nice! See you there. I had a meeting at Bandimere yesterday. If you are familiar with the pit set up area, the Shelby's will be in the very first block on top just above the tech shed. It was the largest block available and then we have run over room to the next block if needed. Last year, the Shelby group was the largest and there was not enough room in just one section next to Phil Long's set up. I've been spending many nights this week trying to get the three cars cleaned up. Not sure why I tried to take that on!

Very cool Jeff! The added space will be nice for our Shelbys. Thank you and see you Sunday! - HAWKBARR

I'll be there. Car is all washed up and ready to go.

I'm close to being ready. I had to order a couple of clips to hold the rear valance tight and CoS Ford had them shuttled down from Denver so I have 'em in hand, just need to install 'em (a 3 minute job).

Car is pretty much clean but could really use a little more detailing to be "show ready". I just flat out don't have the time and my back has been giving me big problems for the past week or so.

Look for the guy that is walking hunched over 'cuz that'll be me!

My car should be pretty easy to spot. It's a Kona Blue w/white stripes, 2010 with 18" KR Alcoa wheels on it (w/SVT center caps) and it has red accent pin stripes along side of each OTT stripe and along the side rocker stripes. Ya can't hardly miss it.

I expect it to be HOT in Denver/Morrison so I plan on bringing a ice cooler with bottled water to keep hydrated. That and some folding camp chairs to sit in and a bunch of detail stuff to keep the car clean for the duration but that's about it (no support vehicle, just the car, wife and grandson).

See y'all up there,

Phill

I'm back from the dead, washed up (at least as good as it's going to get) and ready to go for tomorrow. Plan on being in line by 7am... can finish up detailing the interior while I wait in line! But then again if there is special Shelby parking maybe coming early is no big deal.

Either way, I'll see you all there tomorrow for showing and racing! FIRST TIME with the blower on the track! Speaking of which I guess I need a helmet now huh! Crap... and a jacket... I don't have a jacket....
