Getting real tired of the wait...

Recommended Posts

Car delivered to Shelby early January, and estimated conversion May/June. Then June/July. Now Aug/Sep. With this summer now out of the question to enjoy the car, I am seriously considering selling it for what I have into it. PM me if you are on the fence for a 2012, because I can assure you that you won't see your car until well into 2013!

Having "some work" done to your car and ordering a 2012 Shelby GT350 are two different things. Since I'm not sure what you mean by having some work done I'll put both the phone number for the sales department and the number for the speed shop.

Thank You for the response. My work will be on a 2012 GT500. When I see a vendor that slips a previously committed to delivery date as far to the left as it was done here it causes me to be a little apprehensive that is all.

Thanks MY500SS. I am sure I will, but we here in Minnesota only have a few good months to enjoy our rides. I was hoping to do a few shows before the snow starts flying again.

OMG if you can find some of my previous post you will see I almost bailed out also. I know it's disappointing but if you can hang in there it will be worth it.

SA kept telling me the same thing and I said "yeah right". They are correct it is definitely worth it.

I can't believe I'm saying this now but it is the truth. Heck I will PM you my phone # if it will help.

I think Shelby should have some type of anxiety hot line. Right Roger? :hysterical:

Hang in there. All '11 guys had long tortuous waits as well and I was very clear in my disappointment with the entire process - privately and on the forum. In the end, it was well worth the wait. The biggest issue is when we believe the preliminary delivery dates we receive, we begin to mentally prepare for driving our cars and plan show and track dates, and then the car is not ready. I had planned all along to fly out with my daughter for delivery and drive the car home. The one place on her list of places she wanted to see was Mount Rushmore. Taking delivery mid-November put a halt on that idea. Driving in sub zero temps and possibly snow in South Dakota with Z rated tires is a bad plan. We enjoyed our surgery route home to Pa but now I still have make good on my promise to get her to Mount Rushmore. Might have to go to Sturgis one year and kill two birds with one trip.

This is the baddest machine I have ever driven, not just owned, and I have a bunch of cars on my list of driven machines. If you can stand the wait, I promise that you will not be disappointed. Good luck.

:beerchug: 40th brothers always.

I admit the wait for me is not near as bad as the wait you get because I get 10 month of good driving weather here in So Cal. Hopefully you can get a show and cruise in before bad weather sets in.

I waited a year for my car and it just arrived last week. With that being said.. i was almost at the point were i didn't think anything would be worth it; however, after driving the car for a week and not even getting into the boost yet it is the craziest car i have ever driven. A good friend of mine has a ferrari f430.. that has always been my dream car admittedly... i can honestly say after driving this car its not even close. Yes the ferrari is fast and handles really well... but nothing compares to sound of this car, the acceleration, and raw power it has to offer.. annnnd by not mentioning the rest of the superlatives i am not trying to downplay or discredit them because the rest of the car is perfectly designed. i hope this helps.....

I am convinced the wait will be worth it from what all you Shelby bretheren have said. Thanks so much for the support and sharing in the personal experiences, as it will hopefully get me through the final stretch! I know I will be in your shoes someday, cheering on the newbies with their arduous wait for their 2012, 2013's and beyond...

My wait was 4 days shy of 16 months - from deposit to delivery - and when Roger handed me the keys, the angst evaporated!

You bought the right car. It is exceptional!

Hang in there.

SNKBITE, any update? My car was delivered before yours (Dec 28) so we are probably close together in production.

Just wondering what you date was that Roger promised? Also, what options did you order?

I am a little suprised at the wait times. I was at SA in May. There are 19 lifts in the Mustang shop. 15 of them had 2011 white GT350s on them. Most of those looked complete or nearly complete. Of course there was no way to tell what # these cars were in the production order. BTW the other 4 lifts had pre 2010 GT500 being turned into Super Snakes.

My Mustang was delivered on Dec. 21 after a paperwork snafu. Last week it was in the paint shop for the stripes. Last word has the 624hp GT350 going out near the end of July. I had hoped for a March delivery, then May, then June...

In case you missed it, SAI sent out this message last week:

GT350 Production Update!

To date we have produced 124, 2011 Shelby GT350 45th Anniversary editions. At our current production rate we are targeting the final 2011 GT350 to be completed by the end of August. Our customers are thrilled with their vehicles scoring many “best in shows” across the country.

The order bank is open for the 2011-2012 Shelby GTS. Contact our sales department to reserve your spot now! Production will commence at the completion of the 2011 Shelby GT350 run and will move directly into the 2012 GT350 build.

2012 Shelby GT350s and Shelby GT500 vehicles are arriving daily in anticipation of production. Stay tuned for more information and updates!

During the wait I am am getting the garage ready, making continual changes for the proper appearance of its future home.

I was told middle to end of August. Options are rear brakes, cooling package and 525hp. Couldn't pull the trigger on painted stripes or interior. Might be talked into 625 if the power can be put to earth.
