georgefrye
Hey all, I have a 2011 Shelby GT 500 and thinking of buying a SCT tuner, Before I invest 400 bucks in one has any one on the forum used the tune on a 2011 Shelby and did it help? If so in what areas did you see an improvment? Thanks George
TrakRat
You won't gain much in terms of hp kn a stock 2011. I eeked only 10 hp out of mine. I did bump my redline and removed my speed limiter though.

CMG
Combine the tuner purchase with the 2.59 SC pulley from VMP and you will have the easiest, cheapest HP available. At least 50hp. 30 minute mod.

dbrisson
i second the pulley and tuner as a package, with the vmp kit its so easy to do, and the power change is incredible.
CMG
Yes. Did myself with no help and no issues. Also comes with new idler pulley for stock belt reuse. Very easy. I was lucky enough to have a friend who already had the puller I could borrow though. Edit....I do recall the belt is pretty tight going back on though. ChrisSD
One of the most annoying things about the stock tune is the throttle mapping. The car has lazy throttle response. Tunes fix it. Even if no HP increase, tuning that lazy "are you sure you meant to floor it?" drive by wire response is worth it.
georgefrye
Thanks for the response all. I am looking at going with the pulley swap from VMP and the tune. I am looking forward to a fix for the lazy throttle response. George
jsarkis
Chris is right imo, the throttle response is worth it on it's own.
jmungiel
Agreed on throttle response. I invested in the Ford Racing Supercharger Upgrade kit (750hp) with aluminum drive shaft, safety loops and lower center control arm. A buddy did exactly this and got about 660 HP at the wheels. Ford conservatively rates the kit at 750 hp at the flyweel. I'm just waiting for my install appt. and then I am rocking!!!!

TrakRat
It's an optional setting on the tuner.
