Recommended Posts

To all those, past and present, serving our great nation, I say................ Thank You.

Thank you for the freedom I enjoy each and every day. Thank you for the many sacrifices you make every moment you serve. Lastly, Thank you to your families for the sacrifices and worries that they live and feel.

God Bless.

This is for all who appreciate the sacrifices made by our Armed Forces. The conductor of the orchestra is Andre Rieu from Holland . The young lady is Melissa Venema. She, her trumpet, and her rendition of Taps will leave you with a tear in your eye if not a shiver down your spine. Most of us have never have heard Taps played in its entirety - I sure had not. Well, here it is for all of the men and women who have died for us to have the freedom we have in America . The original version of Taps was called Last Post, and was written by Daniel Butterfield in 1801. It was rather lengthy and formal as you will hear in this clip so, in 1862, it was shortened to 24 notes and re-named Taps. In this clip is it played on a trumpet where the original was played on a bugle. Jim

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!

EDIT- I was driving in the rental car on Saturday in Phoenix, and at straight up NOON they played the Star Spangled Banner. I got a pi$$ shiver as I was driving down the road. That along with the national anthem and the pledge of aliegance get me every time! How on earth can you be American and NOT be affected by any of these?

Thanks to ALL of our patriots that are serving or have served and who have lost their precious lives for MY freedoms!

:salute:
