pl1025
I have sucessfully removed the horrid stripes from my 07 Shelby GT. All that is left is to get the body shop to remove the hood scoop and paint it black. I may one day have the stripes painted on, but have to say that I am digging the solid black. Can't wait til it's finished. Once the project is finished, I will post before and after pictures. BTW, I saved myself around 800 dollars by taking the stripes off myself. pl1025
Horrid how? Horrid in that they turned to crap on me. White spots all over them. Looks 1000x better without them. Did not have a problem with the stripes until they took a dump on me. Ruined the look of the car.

robertlane
If I had a black Shelby GT, I'd consider putting white stripes on it. I've always liked the black and white stripped GT500s.

RACERX009
You can also buy a wheel that will bolt to a drill it's made of an eraser compound it won't damage your paint but will have to buff after doing it.

David Hawkins
I had to remove old Stripes on my car. I used a Heat Gun and a small Plastic Spatchula that I use for cooking. Worked great and no scratches. It took about 3 Hours but I was doing it by myself.
pl1025
I used a 3M eraser wheel. Makes a mess, but well worth it. Wheel cost 27.00 and also removes the adhesive. I was scared of the heat gun, just because I have never used one and did not want to bubble the paint. I also found that on 95 degree days in Alabama, the sun works as a heat gun of sorts. The side stripes peeled of pretty easy, but left the adhesive on. 3M all purpose adhesive remover worked well on this part. It was hard to get the wheel on those, but for the hood, top, and decklid, it worked great. It's going in the shop tomorrow to have the hoodscoop removed and painted. Also the letters HELB taken off, cleaned under, and replaced. The hood scoop will be painted black and outlined with stainless rivets.

I use adhesive glue made for such jobs have used it for years have never damaged paint removing the lettering but once its dry it's on there. Also it dry's quick so the lettering or emblem won't sag. Makes it hard for a douche to steal them.
Boss Hoss 540
Good for you---the stripes make the cars look look like little boy race cars LOL! Mine is black and would not consider the tape! Took the go fast stickers off of the Raptor as well.
JeffIsHereToo
That's sad to hear. The stripes, done well, are part of what makes a Shelby GT a "Shelby GT". To each his own though!

Aren't you concerned about the aluminum hood corroding after a few miles with those stainless rivets bolted through it?
