Wanna know whats annoying me on my '11 GT500?

I keep telling myself that this is not a big deal and to forget about it. But everytime I get in the car its one of the first things I see.

There are two big water spots on the inside of the plastic shield for the guage cluster right in front of my fuel guage. Been there since I got the car. They're pretty hard to miss... especially at night when the guages are all lit up. I can only imagine how big of a pain in the ass it is going to be get that clear plastic piece pulled off so I can wipe it clean... I don't think I will be able to make it through the summer having to see it everyday!!!!!!

This and the fact that my front driver side tire is losing about 10 pounds a week. I'm thinking its not sealing on the bead though.

My car is a 2011 and I bought it last month... It sat at the dealership all last year, you would think the dealer would have fixed the tire issue when they likely found it flat... but oh well.

I can understand that they wouldn't have fixed the water spot issue.... they probably didn't even notice. If anyone has pulled off this plastic piece before, feel free to share some helpful knowledge.

THANK YOU!

One big long word … WARRANTY

Take it back and have them fix it, especially if it was that way when you bought it new. My ’11 was losing about 5 pounds a week in one of the front tires. I’d pump them up to 35 psi and about two or three weeks later, I get the low tire pressure light at 25 psi. I ran in to my Ford salesman about two months after I first bought the car and he said bring it in and they’d check the tire. It took a while of looking but they finally found a very small bubbling air leak around the rim. They took the tire off, cleaned the rim seal good and reseated the tire and I haven’t had a problem since.

Why don't you take it back to the dealer and have them fix what you don't like . It should all be covered under your warranty....

+1...

These 2 problems are both warranty issues. Don't get a headache, give it to your dealer!

+2 on the Warranty.....................................BUT, if you perfer to do it your self...........

The Bezel Face Plate should just Pull Off like the 2005-2009 Models. Just Tilt your Steering Wheel all the way Down and pull off the Face Plate. Then remove the 4 Screws holding the Cluster in place and pull the Cluster out. The Wire Harnes is easy to disconect, Just just move the Slider Lever over and it automatically disconects the Harness. Then you remove the Cluster. The Lens just unclips from the Cluster............This is how the it is done on the 2005-2009 Mustangs so it should be the same for yours. I can have mine out in less then 3 Minutes (2005 model).

Thank you!

And yes, I know this stuff is all Warranty issues... but unfortunately the dealer is about a 4 hour drive away. For an issue as small as this, it's quite a bit easier to just deal with it myself.

My goodness, where do you live? I didn't think anybody lived that far from a Ford dealer (LOL).

Any Ford dealer can do the warranty work. Those aren't Shelby unique problems.

WELL, thats a whole nother story in itself!

I live in Saskatchewan, and there IS a Ford dealership about a half hour away from where I live... but their service is nothing short of pathetic. Estmimated time to check my tire out and get it seated on the bead is a day shy of 2 weeks. They are terribly understaffed and I'm afraid that they are cherry pickin' their employees from the local McDonalds kitchen. It would easily be less hassel to just drive 4 hours to the other dealership than to deal with them.

This is life on the prairies.

(LOL) Wow! I stand corrected. The good thing is I guess you have a lot of wide open stretches to "air-out" the Shelby every so often. Well hopefully any decent tire shop can reseat your tire. Just put it in a water tank and watch for bubbles. You might want to try wipping it down with soapy water also and check for tiny bubles ..... Must like Don Ho's famous song.

Any Up Dates?

Yes, I actually took the car to the dealership I purchased it from (4 hours away) on Thursday. I had them fix the bead leak and give me an oil change. They wanted to keep the car until 8pm to get the water spots off the gauge cluster.... I had to be back home fairly soon so I figure I will just tackle that one on my own time. They had me a bit bothered when they tried charging me for fixing the bead leak. He told me that the tires weren't covered by the warranty. Needless to say I told him that was total BS considering I took the car off their lot a month ago and I highly doubt it magically started leaking air as soon I swiped my credit card. So, he ended up not charging me the 30 bucks to fix the tire. ......... Yay.....

Maybe it's not covered by the warranty, but a good dealer understands the importance of good customer relations. Glad you got them to see the light.

The only SVT dealer I know of in SK is Jubilee Ford in Saskatoon - based on that I'm not surprised that they tried charging you for fixing the tire...their after sales service is absolutely pathetic. If you're going to drive into the Saskatoon area to get anything done I'd go to Merlin in Saskatoon, or the dealers in Watrous, Rosetown or Hague.

I bought my '05 Coupe from Jubilee, traded it in for my vert a few months later then bought a Grand Am off their used lot for a winter beater. The day after buying the Grand Am I was back their because of a faulty sensor - the sales manager told me..and I quote..."you haven't spent enough money here for me to fix it". Apparently he didn't know about the compulsory warranty period on a used vehicle in SK, nor did he consider the $50k I'd laid down to that point in time to be "enough money". After I emptied their showroom with my response to this idiotic statement (I can be very loud when I want to make a point..lol) I started to get somewhere. I can also recall when they didn't want to fix a wheel arch liner screw retainer that had fallen off without wanting to charge me (3 days after I bought the vert), the time that they tried to refuse fix an issue with my stepdad's Taurus (a few weeks after buying it from them) and the time that they made me wait 3 days to fix my coupe when (a week after buying it) the transmission linkage fell off. There are plenty of good dealers in that area, do yourself a huge favour and stay away from Jubilee.

WOW! I didn't realize that some of our unscrupulous American dealerships had moved up to Canada? Just kidding of course, but it is a sad commentary on customer relationships on the part of some dealers. I would most certainly be contacting some district or zone managers or even Ford HQ on shabby service like that. I have five Ford dealerships within about a 30 mile radius of me and two have been terrific over the years, two I don't know about, and one I refuse to go to.

I had a slight air leak on one of tires and was losing a couple pounds a week. It took maybe three weeks for my low tire pressure light to illuminate at 25 psi from the 35 I normally run. I ran into the salesman who had sold me my car at a car show about three months later and asked him about it. I asked about just taking it to a regular tire shop as I didn't really think it was Ford's fault (I was thinking I had picked up a small nail). He said, " Of course not, you bring it to me and I'll have them check it out under warranty". There was a very small leak coming from the rim/bead. They removed the tire, cleaned the rim good, remounted and balanced the tire and it's been perfect ever since. No charge, all under warranty.
