EL SHELBY
Like many of you, I scan eBay and Craig's list daily, sometime multiple times a day for pretty much anything Shelby, or Mustang related. You never know when you may find a diamond amongst the poo-poo. Well, this past weekend I think I found a diamond! In fact I found it only moments after it's posting. I scored a an new, unmolested, never before mounted, final Gen SGT Hood Scoop at an extremely reasonable price. Surprisingly the listing said nothing about Shelby or the SGT, it only mentioned the scoop as a Ford Mustang hood scoop and included one photo which looked like the SGT scoop. Based on the photo alone I took a shot seeing as the 'buy it now' price was so reasonable. The scoop arrived today as advertised and it included the Shelby to dealer installation instructions! I was floored, it's the real deal! So, question is now, what do I do with this scoop? Do I stash it away in the event I need to replace my scoop? Do I purchase a second hood and cut this scoop creating a functional scoop while preserving my original scoop? Sell it for a nice profit? Or, send it to the Old Man for an autograph? I'm open to suggestions.....

And I'd be delighted to grab an SGT scoop away from possible scum cloners. Jer
socalwrench
I would send it for a signature, or modify it to be functional, and keep your original one in a safe place.
stormeaston
Sell it to me for 10.00 over your cost and feel real good about it.
SGT/SC#0471
I had similar luck...this is what I did with mine... http://www.teamshelby.com/forums/index.php?/topic/62084-functional-hood-scoop-mod-wsa-glass-scoop/page__p__1055885__fromsearch__1&do=findComment&comment=1055885 Looks cool, works great...if you search Chip Beck's posts he did a whole lot of research about this including testing the airflow.... SWEDEMAN
I have heard that there is Shelby stuff being recreated for our cars recently and they look almost seamless and it will be extremely difficult to recognize the difference. This will make cloning easier but they will still not have the CSM and Vin # identification. I hate cloners really.

I totally agree, especially when someone eventually will try to pawn off a clone as the real thing. We are now seeing with the newer cars the same thing that has been happening with the early '60's Shelby's. All the 'glass and other parts are out there to make an exact copy of whatever year car you want to have. CC

Jer No of course not. That would never happen, people are too honest to do something like that. Yea, right. That is why SAAC has had "Flashing Yellow" alerts over the years when issues like this come up. The best advise is check the registrar for whatever year the car is. Even tags can be copied. EL SHELBY
With the price of used SGT's hanging around $20k-$30k the cost of truly 'cloning' one is not practical (that may change 20yrs from now, but I doudt it.) Personally, I have no issues with clones aside from the possibility of someone being taken advantage of. I see clones or tributes as a measuring stick of how valuable/desirable a car is. The more there are the more desirable and therefor valuable the real deal is.
SGT/SC#0471
+1 why anyone would clone a SGT makes no sense...they are affordable to many now, which is very cool to me.

EL SHELBY
Put the scoop on your truck's hood (if you have one) That's actually not a bad idea! If you can have a SS F150, why not an SGT F150? To bad I no longer have an F150.
