Passenger Airbag Signatures

Madlock

Recommended Posts

I'd appreciate any helpful guidance from anybody who's found a way to successfully protect any autographs or signatures they've obtained upon their (aluminum) passenger airbag covers.

I'm hoping some kind of clear coat exists that would allow me to have the cover sprayed to protect the signatures underneath - without either dissolving the signatures or being noticeably different from the OE finish when dry.

I realize there are a great many clear coats in both gloss and flat, but I'm hoping somebody could recommend something they've used and found to work particularly well in 2010 and newer vehicles - or, as an alternative, any of the clear protective film products that may have been created for other purposes.

Many thanks!

My 06 has 50K+ miles of daily driven sunshine on it's unprotected signature. Zero fade, looks like the day CS signed it in Terlingua.

I wouldn't mess with clearing over it.

Being a convertible had no effect upon it - or does your '06 have a glass roof instead?

It's a coupe, non-tinted windows.

We have members of the local SAAC club that have unprotected sigs that were done in the 80's. No fading, even for California with all the sunny days.
