Trade 09.5 G8 GT for 08 Gt500??

I have a perfect all three packages 09.5 G8 Gt with 5000 miles that I love driving. I can get $23k for it on trade for a 2008 GT500 vert that has 10k and has nav. I paid $25.600 for the G8 two years ago and the purchase price of the 08 Shelby would be $33,600. I must also mention that I own a 2008 GT500 vert that has 3000 miles on it. The only reason I would consider this move is based on the upside of future value of the car. My G8 has held its value so much better than the shelby, but should I take advantage of that now and buy a shelby when the price is right?

Now's not really the time of year to get a deal on one, especially a 'vert... October through February is when prices are lowest. As fas as G8 vs the GT500, do it.

So you already have a GT500 vert? What do you want another one for?

A g8 is probably the only car that Gm has made in the last ten years that has been able to hold resale value. It is one of the best Pontiacs ever made.

I still don't know what it is. I guess I have to google an image of it.

Was the G8 another Aussie Holden that was Americanized? Like the GTO? Current crop of Buicks are modified Opels.......

They have a car called a Commodore that is made by Holden (Aussie GM) that they rebadged as a GTO etc. The Commodore has a good reputation in Oz but I was always a Ford Australia bloke (Ford Falcon, and Fairmont). My favourite was the 1971 XY GTHO Phase III which was the fastest production car in 1971. There aren't to many around as they are as rare as rocking horse shit. You can go to this link to check it out

Isn't that what Mad Max drove? With the supercharger sticking through the hood?

No that was a XB Ford Falcon coupe (1974 to 1976). Some mates of mine saw it at some show in Perth and it had a 6 cylinder (250 cubic in) with a wood stick holding up the supercharger thru the bonnet. The link shows a XA (1971-1973) that was a model before the XB but real similar just like the 2007-2009 GT500's are similar. The tail lights and front indicator lights on the XA were different to the XB and I think that was the extent of the changes between the two. Ford were making some real nice cars back then and were dominating the racing circuit winning 1st and 2nd in the Bathurst 1000 for a few years. Bathurst was a 1,000 Kilometer race (approx 600 miles) and would be equivalent to your Indy 500 race except it was run on the streets of Bathurst in New South Wales. On the web site it shows the XW and XY (1970, 1971) and the XA (1973, 1974) won the title

No, it's not. I haven't heard of that race so I looked it up and its in Tasmania and its called the Targa Tasmania Rally. I haven't lived in Oz since 1991 and the race started in 1992. You loose touch with everything over there living this far away. That was a nice XB he had in the movie. My mate used to have a XB and funny enough it was also red like in the movie. Stellar car mate.
