License plate

Recommended Posts

i recently got a ticket for no front license plate. i was wondering if anyone has some cool efficent ways for mounting one. thanks :D

I use this... no drilling or modification to the car... be careful to put some extra cushioning behind it (sticky clear rubber dots work), just to ENSURE no scratches...

oh ok how do you like it?

Does what it should... holds the plate, no mods to the car, boring in its simplicity.

Those stripes on the fenders are called pit stripes. They were originally used to easy identification at the race track when you had multiple cars of the same make and color racing. From the pits, you could easily tell with car was yours by the color of the stripes on the fenders; since the numbers are sometimes hard to grab.

I think John, aka FarmDog, sells them. If not, let me know and I can get you a set for $30. I'm a bit curious though, if it was CHP or LASD that wrote you the ticket.

No front plate....just pay it and take your chances...or duct tape it on get signed off and remove it again...

Usually you do not get a ticket for no front plate here but it is a law...most everyone I know with a special interest ride runs no front plate...

Agreed. They can ticket you legally, but even the police know most people will not ruin the front fascia of the car for a install of plate brackets and the huge holes the make.. My first SGT came in the dealership and I told them not to drill it, but they did it anyway. I turned the car down immediately and waited for another one. If i would have taken it it would have cost upward of $1500-2000 to repair and repaint and reinstall the entire front fascia.

I mounted mine in the trunk :)

If I'd ever have had to put one on I think I tould have tie wrapped it in front of the lower grill I added. I never had to but I believe there would have been room to mount it in there without having to drill n the mounting kit.

The Ford dealer I bought my car from drilled/installed the front license mounting bracket. I bought the car (2007 SGT) in July of 08. It had sat on their showroom since they got it in. I still can't understand why any Ford dealer would do this especially when they had it on ebay and it very well could have gone to a state not requiring a front plate (like mine). Now I'm stuck with having the front fascia repaired/painted/striped... YUCK! I'll probably wait until sometime in the future when I have the stripes painted on.
