eagleridge4
What front sway bar setting are people running for road course events? I'd be interested in any feedback folks have on their experience trying the different holes and the impact on different drivng situations - street, strip, road course. Looking for actual experience vs. theory or articles. Thanks
speedyburd33
I'm not sure what's the best setting. For sure there's several people on here that have more experience than I do that can answer that question. I was reading your signature in your post (not to change the subject) and i'm curious what your RWHP/TQ is? and how much difference you noticed after adding the extreme duty cooling parts? 07-2937
I have used the middle setting a little firmer... Mustangs like to be a little loose thats what I have been told by one of Shelby's experienced test drivers
eagleridge4
Regarding RWHP/TQ, I've seen a range depending on Dyno. On my tuner's dyno it showed 513/433 (not sure of the dyno model). On a different dyno and different day (very hot) it made 470/390 (Dynojet). Both of these were using 91 octane and 4 inch pulley making about 9 pounds of boost. I don't have a before and after with the cooling package. It might not make much of a difference on a dyno pull though. The benefit is going to be related to how quickly you get heat soak and start to lose power. For the track, I want to do everything I can to mazimize cooling because the heat does build up and reduces power. My recommendation is if you track your car and can afford the cost, do what you can to keep it cool. If you don't track it though, I wouldn't go to the expense. ilmor
If you firm up the front bar, you will get more understeer and less oversteer. I would leave it at the SAI factory setting. I ran a track day on this setting and the car handled great.
eagleridge4
I changed the font sway bar setting from the stock setting to the firmest setting (front hole) and here's my feedback: Road Course (Infineon Sears Point) - Felt a little better under hard cornering. However, it was not a night and day difference. Drag Strip - You'd really want to disconnect the front sway bar for optimum 1/4 mile time. That said, I won my bracket and didn't experience any downside vs. stock setting. May have been other factors at work though. Street - No noticeable difference. I don't feel any downside, but also don't see any real benefit under street driving conditions. Kinda like a lot of modifications. So I'm going to leave it on the firmest setting. Slight improvement on the road course, without noticeable downside elsewhere. In general, the difference is more subtle than I expected.
Redlinetoys
Ha! A little late to this post... But after climbing around under the Shelby and JUST NOW noticing the sway bar adjustments on the front (How did I miss that???), I did a search and arrived here. Interesting comments from eagleridge4. I left mine alone since I just put a new set of tires on and am anxious to see how the car responds without changing anything else, but I suspect I will try the firmer setting soon. PS: I was amazed that after 6 years all the blue powdercoating still looks like new under there.
