best brakes

Recommended Posts

I believe it was Baer that made a '+2' kit that fit under the SGT wheels with the factory calipers, but it used drilled rotors. The best real option is to buy fresh blank rotors, throw on some Hawk HPS or DTC pads, and swap in some Motul DOT 4 fluid. I'm sure someone else will chime in with their ideas also.

Socalwrench has it. The only thing I would add is braided brake lines and cooling ducts. Good pads will go a long way to improving your stoping distance. The biggest hindrance in stoping a Mustang is it's weight, so shedding some pounds will always help.

Brembos will fit under the stock wheels if you bolt on some wheel adapters (not spacers) to move the wheels farther out from the caliper. The concern with this option for many is the belief that adapters are unsafe under 'spirited' driving. This is a valid concern, but quality bolt on wheel adapters such as those from H&R can be very safe if installed correctly.

Socalwrench and El Shelby have it nailed. Before I went to racing brakes (and had to switch out the wheels) that is pretty much the set up I bought.
