I'm curious and tenative about replacing the rear trunk lid emblem with the cobra logo instead of the running horse as well as the grill running horse. Im just wondering if anyone has done so and can provide feedback and pictures on it. And any ideas for power or anything to do to this newly acquired snake. My other concern was my gold stripes on the trunk lid were slit where the letters " S H E L B Y" go across. Is this normal? CSM06H178

I've personally seen GT-H cars with the stick on letters, but apparently the pin on ones were used for the Hertz cars.

The topic of snakes on a SGT has been covered numerous times on this forum. I noticed you're new to the TS site- welcome! I will attempt to summarize the last few topics regarding snakes, inc. the rear cap emblem. The general consensus is that the Tiffany snake emblem used on the 07-12 GT500s (in recent years) were for those models. Even though that car is a Shelby, it's built by Ford and many believed it belongs to that car. You'll also notice the Tiffany snake on the later Cobra Jets, which is probably the one you're referring to. It's a nice emblem and there are a few SGT owners that are using them. HOWEVER, most SGT owners use the Berg emblem, which is a cap overlay sold only to SGT owners; also sold through the shelby store. It was named after Berg, the TS member who initially started the SGT specific emblem. You'll notice that particular snake is slightly different than the other, AND says Shelby GT on it. One last argument for using ANY snakes on a ANY Shelby, is that the snake emblems represent Mr. Carroll Shelby regardless of the car. Plus, many of the snakes were used on previous models, and many owners like to add retro touches to their car. So, the option is ultimately yours.

Finally, my own opinion is to keep your tribar pony rear cap emblem. Why? Because it was used on the 1966 GT350 Hertz cars. Who cares if it's used on the pony cars, it's simply a nice Mustang emblem. After all, your car is a Shelby Mustang. Happy customizing!

That's not quite right what socal stated on the letters. The 2006 GT-H trunk letters are pinned into the body, not stick on like the 2007-2008's. They used the exact same letters as the 60's letters with holes drilled and pinned. If you can post some pics, we can look and see if they are correct or not. Sounds like maybe somebody replaced the stripes on your car without properly removing and re-pinning the letters. Probably post in the GT-H Coupe section and you will get more feedback on GT-H specific items. I think there have been a few that have replaced the rear emblem, but I prefer the pony. Welcome to Team Shelby. Has your car been registered? Do you have the 40th emblem and packet from Shelby? There is also a full packet that you can get from Hertz if your car has never received them. Do some searching in the GT-H coupe forum and you will find everything that you would like to know, or post some questions and there are many who would be happy to help! Again, Welcome!

P.S., I have replaced my grille emblem a couple times. It is the exact same emblem from the drivers side fender emblem for a 65-66 Mustang. Available just about at any Mustang parts supplier for under $20.

All the 2006 cars were pinned and will have holes. Somebody may have stuck on the stick on letters over the holes if a letter broke off, but the holes will still be there. The 2007 GT-H's are the stick on letters. So maybe you were looking at verts? No worries. I think that it's a little known fact that the 2006 GT-H cars used original pin letters on the deck. Here's a pic of my car before getting painted. You can see the placement of the holes in the rear deck. I'm guessing that it was taking way to much time to drill and place the letters in the production line when they decided to do the Shelby GT's and step up production. So the stick on letters make way more sense starting in 2007.

When the pinned letters are removed they can be easily broken as the "tinimon" (spelling??) retaining clips are hard to remove without damaging the mounting pins. If stick on letters are found on a 2006 GT-H then a re-striping as probably occurred. Buyers should be very aware of this as often the stripes are one shade off, either up or down on the gold color scale. It's one of those little details that make the 2006 GT-H unique and hopefully a not forgotten fact. The stick on letters make more sense, but were just not a part of the 2006 GT-H program. Great detail topic. regards, Larry

I looked at the lettering across the trunk lid and the letters are pinned on so Im assuming that the stripes were replaced for some reason. I like the look better of the slit in the stripes but knowing the prowess these cars or any shelby for that matter have amongst the car world I do not want to disrespect the car in any way. And yes I have registered the car into the registry and I have contacted Hertz and they're sending me any and all information they have regarding my car and I have to call shelby american to receive a dash plaque, keychain, 40th anniversary badge and certificate???? not sure what they are. I dont have the original Wheels for it though.
