Sam,

Agree with Randy

Uncertain if you have upgraded your brakes or still stock

The Ferodo DS2500 only appears to be available for Brembo front brakes:

Well Larry, I put on the drilled/slotted DecelaRotors, but when I put the Hawk pads on the front calipers, the pad springs popped off! The rivet heads aren't large enough to hold the springs on the pads and I've been fighting with Hawk/Brothers Performance for two months trying to get a replacement set!

Anyway, that's why I'm avoiding Hawk, and for that matter, Brothers Performance!

By the way, are you tuned and zooming now?

Sam,

Sounds like a total pain in the rear. Hopefully you will find a good solution soon.

500+ miles, so clutch sb good to go. Dyno scheduled for Friday morning to check the air/fuel & fuel pump cycle, then email dyno data to JDM to see if they want to make any changes. Still keeping my right foot light until know that all checks out

Thanks for asking :)

OK, I'm headed to Sebring at the end of the month and wanted to get some good brake pads for the track.

Other than Hawk, (which are seriously lacking in quality control), any suggestions?

Sam

I'm planning on heading to Sebring too if I can find a truck to pull my car/trailer. It will be nice to see another SGT at a track event. That seems to be pretty rare. Anyway you are right about Hawk pads...they are crap. I like the Carbotech pads but I have the Brembo caliipers. I'm not sure if they make them for the stock calipers but I bet they can make some. BTW the Carbotech pads and most other aftermarket pads I have seen do not even have those spring clps.

I'm borrowing a trailer, but it looks like I'll be renting a truck! (Dang trailers were more expensive to rent than the trucks!) Anyway, Brothers Performance FINALLY sent a replacement set of Hawk front pads, so hopefully I can get this set working for Sebring, but in the future, I'll be going with another brand and supplier!

A few more items on my track-day checklist, but I'm nearly ready!

I too have had "quality" issues with the rivets and springs on the HAWK pads... Took a couple of sets just to get enough good ones to put on the car...

Previously used the harder track pads with slotted/drilled rotors, but started to develop hair-line cracks around the holes... Not to mention they squeak like crazy when driving on the street...

Switched to the street compund and went back to the OEM rotors and things have been fine since... And there is very little dust while driving on the street and no squeaking either...

I am still using the stock calipers and rotors, along with the 18" Bullit Wheels... Have upgraded to the Hi-Temp Fluid, SS Lines and Agent 47 Front Brake Cooling Ducts...

Not quite as effective as the Brembo or any other Big Brake setup... However, I don't have to replace the wheels and tires either with this setup... Good Luck and enjoy the TRACK :shift:

I will have Hawk DTC60 pads on the front for my two day track class in two weeks along with new rotors (not drilled!) only slotted. HPS on the rear for now. Agent 47 air scoops up front to brag some serious air for the rotors. SS brake line too. Never had a problem with the springs on the hawk pads.

Hawk HP+ on my Shelby GT without problems-

We used the DTC-60's recently on our Chump car for 7hrs of endurance road racing, equaling 218 laps and a 1st place finish with brake pad material to spare.

How are the Hawk+ on the street? Do they make noise, excessively or are the like stock type pads with better grip and stopping power? When your through with these are you going to run them again or will you change?

Thanks-

have been running EBC yellow for the last year street and track. SGT not daily driver. Stock calipers & rotors with stainless brake lines, air ducts and motul race fluid. No noise but brake dust worse than Hawk HPS. EBC has just come out with blue pads a little more aggressive than yellow. HIghly recommend EBC yellow if running mostly stock brakes and want to run open track days. Would not recommend drilled rotors.

I would not recommend them for normal street use, they do makes noise and are annoying under light braking.

The HP+ pads like to be hot and used hard for best performance.

Since I don't drive mine much I've been known to leave them in and squeal up to street lights between track days. :)

The HPS is the perferred Hawk street pad, a step above stock units that came in the Brembo's, there are many out there equal to the HPS and less dusty then the stock Brembo pads.

I've heard good things about the Ferrodo's on the track but at this point not looking to make a change.

I like the HP+ I can drive to the track with them, run 100% all day in 20 min session without worry of damaging my rotors. I've never suffered from fade or lack of brake feel even without cooling ducts. That could all change if I end up running in California. Cooling ducts are on hand and can be on in 30 mins.

HP plus pads are noisy, I just took them the Shelby and put the stcok pads back on. Plus they put off a lot of dust. Good for some tracks but not on tracks that are tuff on brakes like Little Taladega Gran Prix in Alabama.
