RogerArrick
Apparently either I'm confused or others are. Here's how I understand it, please correct me if I'm wrong: In 2008, there was a special batch of Shelby GT made grabber orange w/silver stripes called GT-C. About 215-219 depending on if you count prototypes and who you ask. The sill plates even say GT-C. These are different than California Specials which come in other colors, have the side stripes that say GT/CS, etc. I talked with someone this morning at the Shelby store to buy a cover, and he said it was a California special, and didn't know what a GT-C was. socalwrench
The C in GT-C stands for California. The car is a Shelby GT that was painted grabber orange for sale in California as a 2008 model. Now, Ford also sold a GT/CS which stood for California Special as a 2007-2009 model (there's also a 2011 model). The GT/CS car is a Mustang GT with the GT/CS appearance parts. The confusion comes from the fact that the SGT, inc. the SGT-C, and the GT/CS use the same bumpers and fake side scoops. Both cars even have a fake hood scoop, although the SGT one looks much nicer. You pretty much have it correct. The best suggestion I can give is when ordering parts, not just from SPP but anywhere, just tell them you have a Shelby GT. And just for the fun of it lets complicate things even more by mentioning that there were also Shelby GT-California cars built for the 2007 model year. I wish all the various models were documented better in detail. If it is, let me know where. Roger
socalwrench
Yeah, for all intensive purposes, your car is a Shelby GT. 2007 GT-C cars are new to me. We had 08SGT0008 out here and it was in fact a 2008 SGT-C. You all know how much respect I have Carroll Shelby, but the Shelby GT should've had a better name. Nope, there were no 2007 Shelby GT-C cars but there were 2007 Shelby GT-California cars. In '07 the name California was spelled out and in 2008 the name California was abbreviated to just the letter C. Steve

SGT0128
Alright, so was the 2007 SGT Calif. car painted grabber orange? No sir, only 2008's were Grabber Orange.
springer
The 2007 California Shelby GT's came with the triple-gauge dash pod assembly. I've seen the advertising promos for the 2007 California cars and can't remember if they came with anything else. (They did not come with come with a Carroll Shelby autographed sun visor.) The car color was either black or white. This was a promo done thru the California Ford dealers and not thru Shelby American.
socalwrench
Bingo, that solves it. As I thought, all the GT-C cars are 2008 and painted grabber orange. As an added plus, most came with the signed sun visor too.
shelbymotorsports
The 2007 Shelby GT-California cars were built for the Northern California market. There were just over 200 of them available in either black or white. These 200+ cars were assembled by Shelby American with the gauge pod mounted on top of the dash and also had unique sill plates with the word "California" spelled out. Everything else remained regular production SGT. These Nor-Cal cars were built towards the end of the 2007 SGT production run. Steve
EL SHELBY
Well, you learn something new every day. I knew several '07 SGT left Vegas with the gauge pod but I had no idea they were limited to Northern Cali dealers or had special sill plates. springer
Here is a pic of the 2007 SGT window sticker for the California Edition. Apparently these California Editions were not a California Ford dealer promo as I stated earlier, but came from Shelby American as a special promotion for the Northern California dealers. If you look at the top right corner of the Shelby GT window sticker included below, it reads 2007 Shelby GT - California. According to this Shelby window sticker, the Shelby GT - California Package included door sill plates which read "Shelby GT - California" and a gauge pod containing oil pressure, fuel pressure and oil temperature gauges. Also, there doesn't appear to be an extra cost for this "option." Here is a link to the commercial promoting the 2007 California Edition which, according to the video, was limited to 200 cars. SGT-C0056
Steve is dead On!! No need to keep confusing you, but thats the great thing about this site. Just for your info, The Final Total of 2008 SGT-C (grabber Orange) was 215. this is verified by SAI and the GO registrar. 2007 SGT-California, was for Northern dealers, came in black and white, gage POD,as stated, aprox 200 2008 SGT-C, was for Southern dealers, and Only in Grabber Orange and ALL WERE SIGNED in the Sun Visor I dont know about the NORTHERN Version, but another fact of the 2008 GO SGT-C, is that they were built specifically for California and have CALIFORNIA EMISSIONS ITEMS. All others were certified for the other states, but as you know, California have Strick regulations. I can assume the 200 Northern versions might be the same. socalwrench
I'm beginng to wonder if the SGT-California Edition was a predecessor to the the SGT-C cars. Such as SAI decided to paint them a different color soon after making the a Calif. edition.
RogerArrick
Great info. Were there ANY other GO Shelby GTs in 2007/2008 besides the 215? Not talking about GT500s. Is there another registrar besides the one here?
07SGT4578
Great info. Were there ANY other GO Shelby GTs in 2007/2008 besides the 215? Not talking about GT500s. Is there another registrar besides the one here? To answer the first question, no, there was only 215 Grabber Orange GT-C cars built in 2008. The number for the GT-California in 2007 was 202. There are Registrars designated for each model of the cars built by Shelby American. You can get more information about the registrars by visiting the Registry sub category here on TS. SGT-C0056
Also, If you pick up the Second volume (second year issue) of the SHELBY magazine, it talks about the Grabber Orange creation. In a nut shell, The Southern California Dealers came to Carroll Shelby and asked him to make a LIMITED run of GO cars for the Southern area, since this was the original location of the first Shelby Corporation (LAX Airport). Since he was about to start the 2008 Vista Blue cars, he said sure. These cars actually were manufactured by FORD around June 2007 and sat in Nevada. They were the first cars for the 2008 run, which is why the CSM runs from 0003 to 0217. Later the Barrett jackson Folks, requested the limited run of 100. Those cars were fitted in between the Vista blue production, thats why their CSM is around 2200. I think SA or EBAY has that magazine. Maybe we TX GTC's should do a meetup and freak out a restaurant owner with a parking lot full of them. Actually I saw on the spreadsheet there were only 10 or 12 in TX. Mine will make +1. BTW, who did that GT spreadsheet and is it still being maintained?

I'm presuming you mean the gauges for the SGT-California... they are no different than the ones offered by SPP, except most pics show the Boost gauge installed for SGT/SC applications. Even the attached Hero Card shows that picture. The order of the gauges from the factory is Oil Pressure, Fuel Pressure, & Oil Temp. -Tom SGT_CA_Hero_Card___Front1.pdf SGT_CA_Hero_Card___Front1.pdf
jaydub Mach1
In case this has not been posted, here's the 2007 SGT-California card what came with the SGT-California Edition package from the Shelby sticker. As described above, it was available in either of the black or white normal 2007 SGT colors. It was available for the Northern California dealers "only". But, who knows where they all ended up. Here's a TV commercial for the SGT-California Edition. It states only 200 were built for NorCal, Also, here's a pic of its unique door sill.
