I placed an order for A GT500 SVT before I left for deployment in January. I asked that the car be delivered in July so that it wasn't sitting at the dealership until I came back on leave around August. The car showed up on March 19th this year. Notice the SOLD tag hanging from the rear view. Here is the VIN# 1ZVBP8JS6C5209945. My questions are as follows: Are the cars numbered per model year, and how can you tell when the car was actually built?

I appologize for not introducing myself as a new member earlier. I'm not sure what the proper protocol is. Anyhow, the reason I am asking these questions is, if my 2012 was at the dealership in March 2011 then I would have to assume that it has to be one of the first cars of the first block of GT500's built for 2012. I know we all know what happens when you ASSuME. It's just that I keep reading about folks that follow the build of their car. Some are notified when a VIN# is assigned and some know how many cars have their paint scheme and know what number car they have for the model year. As I understand it there is something like 5000 to 5500 GT 500's built each year at Flat Rock. I know they are not numbered like the GT 350, Leguna Seca BOSS 302 or the Rousch Stage 3. Anyhow, I would just like to know if anyone can help with gathering this information.

First, thank you for your service.

Second, great choice on the car. It looks just like mine but without the glass roof.

I know there are folks on here that can answer your question way better than I can but here is what I can say. After the last build for the 2012MY, you can call Ford and they will have all the info on the car for you. They are all numbered per model year and they will be able to tell you your build date. I have #41 for 2011MY and the certificate says it was assembled at Auto Alliance International on 3/23/2010.

When I went there they only offered me a V6 or GT mustang. So I called my local dealer (Luckly im good friends with the manager) and he took care of me and I got X plan on the 2012 so I am happy.

I just got lucky with my deal. I'm not familiar with the X plan. I went in willing to pay MSRP for a base GT500 with the only option being the SVTPP. They quoted me $49,500.00 with the SVTPP. I practically threw my credit card at him and went under contract. I did get a call about a week later and they told me that the price was for a base model but that since we made the deal I still get the SVTPP. So, I guess I got the SVTPP for free. As far as AAFES is concerned, they get 20 orders per year world wide. If your there at the right time you are able to put down the $2000.00 to have your name basically put in a hat. If your name is not drawn then you get your money back not a car. I went for the sure thing. Stay Safe wherver you at Brother.

I've done Iraq twice and Afghanistan once. I am currently chillin out in Kosovo of all places. I can tell you this. The grass is NOT always greener on the other side. I wish I was deployed somewhere I was needed. I just arrived here about a month ago so, I have a LONG way to go. Anyhow, I'm sure I'll see you on here in the future.

Thanks for both your hard work. I have 6 months left as well and cannot wait for this to be over with here in Afghanistan. The biggest difference between me and you all is I'm a contractor. I will go on R&R next month and looking forward to getting behind the wheel. I at first tried to go through AAFES but they informed me that I was ineligible for the GT500 due to being a contractor; the GT500 was only available to soldiers. So, I contacted my local dealer and told them what I want. Mine came out to a total of $56,000 and they knocked 1000 off for me. I feel that was alright tax, tag, title with the navi.

I was curious what kind of deal I could get from AFFES. I pretty much put that idea to bed as soon as I found out that there was a "lottery" of sorts involved. I am happy with the deal I got. I'm even happier with the fact that the dealership held up thier part of the bargain. Maybe impressed is a better term.

So far all they could tell me was it was built on 1 MAR 2011. Do you think I'm in single digits? Is Auto Alliance international the Flat Rock plant? I thought that all the GT500's were built there?

Taxfree,

Here is a screen shot of your window sticker which confirms the 3/1/11 build. AAI and FR are one and the same thing. Thanks for your service! :salute:

Looks like Ford Performance Group handles the rest of the information I'm looking for and since the production numbers wont be released until late summer I'm just gonna have to wait. Oh well, something else to look foward to.

41 - great low number. What # silver is your Shelby? What are your last 4 numbers of your vin? Is it 0041?

For anyone not in the know. If you want the certificate from Ford giving the number your Shelby is of it's model year and color you can order it from fordshowparts.com. 2012 numbers wont be out til mid winter'ish. At-least that's what I was told when I called SVT.

The last 4 of my VIN is 6763. The certificate says my car is #4 of 218 Ingot Silver.

I hope this finds you well. Just got off the phone with the fine folks at Ford SVT. The 2012 Model year numbers wont be available til mid winter sometime. So, still waiting. It's o-kay though. The car wont be any faster with it.
