I was looking through my Mustang pictures today, and as I was going through the Shelby ones, I came across this picture of Carroll Shelby. I have a few of him in recent years, and I was thinking.... why not start a thread of pictures of the man himself. So, here it is. Please post your favorite picture, new or old, of Carroll Shelby - Team Shelby member #1. Thanks!

Edited = found a bigger version of the same picture

made a plaque for Carroll's 85th birthday.......here is a pic of me giving it to him at his birthday dinner....

its not so much the pic of me talking very animated (we have all seen that) so much as it is the look on his face as he takes it all in....

the plaque says:

To America's Greatest Racing Driver and Builder of the World's Most Incredible Cars

Thank you for not only living your dream but allowing us to share in it

You have our undying gratitude

Happy 85th Birthday Mr. Carroll Shelby

under that are the names of the 50 of us who made this happen....

our names, screen names and CSM numbers from our cars!

SHELBY FOREVER!

Sherry and Carol clean up nicely... :)

:yup:

You're right. Sherri and Carroll Shelby look nice. That must of been a press conference or something.

It was his 85th birthday bash in Las Vegas :yahoo:

Actually this one was at Barrett Jackson after the bash.

Oh so many memories!!!!!!!!!

Bud

Now those are some decent pictures! You know, my wife and I had been there the day before, and decided to pass on by while this was happening. Some stupid choices are unrecoverable. Echh.

My topmost favorite Carroll Shelby picture from (maybe) Pomona or (perhaps) Riverside, about 1956 or so, made by Tom Cardin:

My favorite picture that I took (first Terlingua, in the Lajitas frontier street):

My favorite picture I took that has a couple other faces in it (Tribute to Phil Hill at the Petersen Automotive Museum)

The other faces are:

John Morton...Tony Adamowicz... Chuck Daigh... Bob Bondurant... Shelby (rare Ed McMahon lookalike smile!)... Dan Gurney... Phil Hill... Jim Hall.

Parnelli Jones... Jim Busby... Danny Sullivan... (? Porsche driver whose name I disremember)... Stefan Johanssen.

OK, one more, with Alice Hanks at the Fabulous Fifties non-organization's 2002 Christmas dinner. The guy in the background looks like the way I feel when I am in the presence ...

I have a few more from a Fab Fifties picnic in the early 2000s, but haven't found them yet. Filing system failure. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

How would a person get a signature with Mr. Shelby?? Maybe need to drive to Vegas and tour the museum and see If I can catch up with him. Get him to sign the dash while he's still with us. Then I could have the Shelby turned into a Super Snake. HAHAHAHA!!!!

Very nice John, all of us 40th people think this was a great event and you all should be extremely proud to be part of a Carroll Shelby legacy. Is this the one hanging in CS's office?

Also like the picture of Bud with CS having a cold one.

This is pretty much how. See attached. He's not in Vegas often and getting his sig. at an event is a long shot. He usually does not do car parts at events, usually only posters, etc. If you want a car part signed, pretty much through the foundation is the only way. Nice thing about that is you get an authenticity certificate and you are making a great donation to a great foundation!

I think so. We presented the plaque to Carroll at the party, so no pics available till after the party to put in. This is the photo I inserted into my plaque, but I added the names.

Here is another example of Mr Shelby's class. When we presented him the plaque, he accepted it and then handed it back to us and said "you came here to get my signature, well I want yours". He had us disassemble the plaque and had each one of us sign the front. It was awsome to say the least!!!
