Tell us about your daily driver

If I may divert your attention for a minute here...........

What do y'all depend on as a daily driver?

My story is somewhat embarrassing/shocking I think. Our daily driver is a beat-down, warmed-over 1996 Grand Marquis, codename "The Fat Ride". This tan colored dream boat has nearly 170K, loves to speak to us through various valvetrain noises, has a trans that chooses whether or not it likes to go into gear depending on the day of the week, and it sorta looks like a low-rider because the front springs are shot.

We recently threw a set of 16" Mustang wheels on it just to get rid of the hubcaps (nasty!). While it improved on the look a little bit, it's still embarrassing as all get out. While the husband drives the Mustangs as though he's a little old man, he actually attempts to drive the Fat Ride with authority........like he owns the road or something. How intimidating can one be barrelling down the road in a peachish-tan missle adorned with Mustang wheels and two rust spots?

Wow! That is several shades off. :do what:

Still, that truck is a bad ass! I love the color, and the optional doggy door!

As far as the Subaru, you're going to laugh, but hey, that's what this topic is all about. The AWD Legacy was my car of choice in Gran Turismo 2 and 4. I saved like $440,000 to get a Blue Porsche, and my damn Subaru would take the corners better! Both were modded to the hilt, but I always chose my AWD Subaru (it was green with yellow wheels, LMAO). In addition to being a kick-ass autocrosser, it was a great rally car. So with all that in mind, I think I'd have a blast in your Legacy, LOL.

Yes, I get *that* absorbed in my video games.

I just got my canopy for my DD today. I'm sending it back though; notice the color difference between the canopy and truck?

I also drive a Subaru Legacy Wagon. It’s reliable, gets good mileage, has AWD, carries my dog, but is painfully boring to drive and it is really uncomfortable on long road trips.

Ah she's a beauty! My 'Beater', 95' Bonneville SSE. Worst car I've ever owned!! Lets see, in the two years, new engine, rad, 4 wheel bearings, altenator, struts, tires, brakes, air, 2 fuel pumps, sending unit, fuel lines, fuel tank, wiper motor. I think that's it? Looks better far away and covered in snow!

Got me a 2003 Taurus, paid $6,000 under MSRP for that one. ;) my 1990 F-150, 1977 Chevy C-10, 1984 omni GLH, 2000 Excelsior Henderson SuperX and 1958 Matchless G 80. Then of course there is the assorted cars and trucks and Motorcycles that don't run. :)

OK, I'm going to get hammered for this one b/c I'm sure it will be considered sacriligious. Until 2 weeks ago, my DD was actually a 2001 Cobra. Here comes the bad part. I sold it to get a Sierra crew cab. I call it my reverse midlife crisis. I have 4 kids, 2 in daycare and the wifes job circumstances changed to where I had to bring them every day. Ever try to put kids in carseats in the back of a Cobra with a bad back. I already had my eyes on a GT500 and with the GT making 300 HP anyway, if I don't get the Shelby as my toy car, I'll just wait for the 2009 redesign and buy a GT. Who knows, they may be up to the 320 my 2001 had by then. Yeah, I know it's not the same but my back likes it a lot better. :baby:

Orange Whip has some sweet cars! I don't think I could use them for daily driver duty.............they'd be in a garage, and carressed periodically with cloth diapers. :)

I'm still gonna bet that our POS takes the cake as the crappiest daily driver. Some of the cars listed here I'd *love* to have..............I'm just stuck in this bucket during the winter months and in rainy weather. I wouldn't mind tooling around in that Omni GLH...........weren't those the crazy fast little turbo cars?

And here she is folks.............biggest POS ever!

*Edit*

JK.............I don't view your unloading the Mustang as sacriligious. Ya gotta do what ya gotta do, you know? Sometimes, circumstances force people to do things to accomodate their situation, be it financial, physical or otherwise. It doesn't make you an less of an enthusiast than the rest of us are. Sooner or later, you'll end up with another one anyhow. :yup:

Hope your pooch is going to be ok. They really do get to be part of the family, don't they?

I totally missed that. :( Hope everything works out. I agree that pets are like members of the family. It's a really cool thing you did NVWSSV (I was gonna say Assman, but it makes me feel like I'm calling you names, LMAO).

Oh, I don't know Michelle, a few stripe mods and you're good to go.

ROFLMFAO!

:hysterical:

OMG! That's great! Wanna talk about ghetto though? The Mustang wheels we put on the car were my husband's stock GT wheels. The wheels were Canary Yellow. OMG, talk about hideous! I went grocery shopping at Giant Eagle, and I swear, even old people and little children were cackling when they saw it. Naturally, the husband parked right up front, like he was actually PROUD of the atrocity! :do what: Thank goodness he only left them yellow for half a day, because I was seriously trying to ride around in disguide I was so embarrassed. Low-qual pic, but let me see if I can attach it so I don't waste bandwidth.

DD: 2001 BMW 330 CI Convertible

Nice car, but it doesn't look like nearly as much fun as that Grand Marquis! Reminds me of that 72 galaxie 500 2 door I drove in college....pimped out before pimped out was cool. side pipes, dark blue with bright red sides and bright yellow pin strip, keystone classics with the black centers painted bright red. getto cruiser if there ever was one. :hysterical:

The wife drives an '88 GT Mustang Convt. with studded snowtires and 160 lbs of sand in the trunk! The only way to get around Montana iin the winter with a 5.0 Mustang. My daughters drive a '94 Ranger Xcab 4X4 and an '89 Honda Accord. There's also an '87 GLHS Shelby Charger that has seen quite a bit of everyday use. The turbocharged Omni's and Chargers are pretty tinny little cars, but they are alot of fun to drive!

I'd be mad if I spent $440,000 on a porsche and a subaru cornered better too. Heck, I'd just be mad about spending $440,000 on the porsche. :hysterical: Just kidding. We can only assume you meant 40 or 44,000. :hysterical:

How about this, 1982 AMC Eagle SX4. Straight 6, 4X4, interior sun rotted, body damage, paint used to be blue, mismatched tires. My wife won't even ride in it and the homeowners assocation hates me. :happy feet: The most reliable vehicle ever. Always starts and great in the snow. I only live a mile from work, but never out of town. Eat your hearts out. :happy feet:
