Recommended Posts

thats diff looks like its fast 688rwhp holy sht i have a11 svt stock for know last week 6am in the morning took it up to 145mph and just shifted into to 5th gear so 160mph would be easliy to get these cars are fast stock

They have a top speed governor set to 155mph.

Did you basically spin the tires at 60 MPH? Was the traction control off or in sport mode? I didn't think it would do that with the full traction system on. Also what gear were you in?

Yes, spinning at 60 in 3rd gear. I just remembered that I didn't turn off the TC! :banghead: Dang, I could have reached 160 a little sooner....after getting into 4th gear. I shifted into 5th at around 120. If I do another late night run, I'll turn off the TC and see how she runs.

Yes, please do that. I know a lot of us would really like to see the results. :lurk:

The VMP guys disabled the governor on my vehicle. I just kept to 160 because of the length of road I had.

I read on other threads that guys (on the autobahn) have run above 160 and found the car to be a bit unstable, apparently due to the lack of airflow management underneath the car. Not sure but this might be why Ford sets the governor at 155. In any event, be careful out there.

LOL, I wonder what the ticket for doing 160 is?

I'm thinking it more so jail and not a ticket. I'll have to live vicariously on this one. I don't have the guts to turn of TC and shift from 3-4 going 60 MPH. Granted I'm stock so I probably wouldn't have peeled out like that. Be careful because I'm thinking with TC off (it looked to catch you there a bit) you might be looking the wrong way down the highway.

Yes, I know the stock Goodyears are not up to the task. The non-svt-pp suspension is a limiting factor, as well. I'm planning on future mods to beef up the suspension & driveline for drag strip duty, including MT slicks. However, it would be interesting to take the car to The Texas Mile event and see what she'd do.

In all seriousness, I probably won't do this again. I'll keep my racing on the dragstrip.

....the other night. I just had the 'need for speed'. The engine mods are by VMP (688 RWHP). It doesn't have the svt-pp. So, traction is limited. However, in the future, I'll perform all the 'dragstrip' mods and get the car on the 'strip. :shift:

Your so lucky . We are getting pounded with Snow this morning here . We just got 6 inches in two hours and still coming down .

and I still don't know why Shelby doesn't have a calibration for their TVS supercharger for the Super Snake.......

Sick video and awesome blower whine. I also like the fact that besides the SVT logo lighing up when you shift, the ENTIRE guage cluster lights up.

BTW what exhaust are you running in the video, It sounds SICK!

It has Dynatech headers with 3" midpipe and O/R X-pipe.

The other mods by VMP are:

Polished 2.3L TVS, polished 72mm TB, polished elbow , 19+ lbs boost

Revan Racing heat exchanger

Whipple MAF

KB BAP

IW Lower Pulley

Ford Racing 3.73 gears

As I stated in an earlier post, the limiting factior is TRACTION. At current power levels, It doesn't really hook in 3rd gear that well. I should have hit it around 70 in 4th gear....LOL. When I prep the car for drag racing duty, I'll take care of the traction problem.

Sweet! and other sweet mods too. I assume it has factory mufflers too. Are you thinking about vapor08gt500's MMS mufflers anywhere in the future?

Griggs should help with the handling and traction a bit (if you decide to road race it on the track) as well as 305-335mm nittos will also help do the trick too. Did I forget to also mention about a torsion kit and wheel hop reduction kit too. I might as well throw in a panhard bar while I'm at it too.

Just a suggestion to throw out there.

They addressed the aerodynamics with the '10 Model.

People have these cars up to 180 without a problem.

I'm curious on why the governor is set to 155... anyone know why that specific speed? Why not 160? Or, frankly, if you're going to limit it at that speed, why limit it at all??? shrug.gif

I believe it has something to do with insurance and legal issues...don't quote me though.
