Agreed, and in fact my gt350 is actually above my driving skill level. My brother had it sideways at 60mph back in November and frankly, I have too...almost needed a skivvies change. Now I'm pushing 730+ hp in it and I can't even go full throttle. I spin the tires at 60 in 4th no problem...so it's not all about more power and more performance. What might have really made a game changer is developing an IRS or making it a turbo ecoboost v8 to really set it apart. But hey, a 350hp v6 Shelby for 35k is a pretty sweet and economical choice all the same!

A Shelby GTS with a V6 would make a great daily driver.... hint hint

If anyone should be worried it's us CS6 & Terlingua owners but I see the GTS as a worthy continuance of the blown sixer Shelby line. I'm not sure it'll get into the hands of the masses but enough will be made to generate ongoing interest in the Shelby name.

To the OP, it strikes me that you bought your car & expected it to triple in value overnight. If that's the case then sell it to someone who will appreciate it for what it is, go to the nearest casino & put it all on red.

Seriously folks I'm so relieved to see that the majority on here disagree with this standpoint - if anyone on here bought their vehicle as an investment rather than to drive it as often as makes you happy (be it a daily driver or a weekend toy) you're on the wrong site.

(I'm tired and more than alittle grouchy so the filter is off, if you don't like it then you can kiss my stickers and stripes :slapfight: hehe )

Don't car how many they put on the market. I have the Shelby I always wanted and I'm going to drive it and enjoy every moment of the journey. By the time I die, it will have 200,000 + miles on it and time to pass it off to one of the kids. Shelby hasn't flooded the market yet, because most can't afford them. There are way to many just regular GTs because they are cheap.

Just keep it and have the time of your life driving it.

Go buy a 1975 Road & Track, and look in the Classifieds in the Back and look for Shelby's, you could have bought a 1965 G.T. 350 for under $5,000.00as well as a Shelby 427 Cobra. It will take a very long time for ANY late model Shelby to be worth more then what you paid for it. These Cars will never be an Investment for you unless you bought it when you were 16 and keep it until you are 75. Just Enjoy the Ride and the Fact that you own a SHELBY :happy feet:

All are very good points but even ford with the 2004 cobra and the terminator did not flood the market with supercharged cobras. SVT products stayed very limited and very hard to get parts for. That being said it is a business, they sold a lot of shelby's so I guess if it sales make a crap load of them. I enjoy mine to the fullest but I believe I may be parting ways with her if I can find me a 2004 cobra. I love the way this car looks as opposed to the others but I traded in my 2007 mustang gt just because I did not want to have one that was make over after I had the suspension package and the ford racing tune done at the dealership so I could keep a warranty but to me it just was not a shelby. So I bought this one and it has kind of lost is luster now to me but hey I do enjoy it but I enjoyed my other one also. If I knew then what I know now I would have just kept my other one. All and all it is a good product and great business and cars will never be investments like they may have been years ago due to restoration business flooding the market with make overs and business in general!

But for now I will enjoy as long as I have it, lol.!

Just keep in mind that the Shelby GT was the first in it's lineage, with it's own special history, and IMO at least, still the best looking. Plus, it will always have the added value of being finished pre-title by Shelby Auto in Las Vegas!

I've said it before and I'll say it again,

The only reason original Shelby vehicles commanded such a high price was supply and demand.

You only had a handfull or original vehicles that survived stored in a garage in the winter or a heated garage with low mileage.

People bought those cars and drove the crap out of them, winter, spring, summer, fall, at the track, picking up kids & groceries and on and on so not many survived.

People bought a car back then and not an investment and now that roll has reversed.

Anyone that is currently keeping their car in a garage and not driving it is actually hurting this potential resale market.

If we could all go outside, dig a hole and find a diamond, how much do you think diamonds would be worth ??..about the price of any other rock.

I don't drive my cars in the winter but that's just me Shelby or not but I drive them almost every day from the time the roads clear to the time the snow flies.

This new vehicle is just another attempt to survive in a tough market condition but in reality, the CS6 CS8 program was not successful due to high cost and no CSM and is now obsolete, The Hertz

program was successful but it was a post title car but you bought it complete and could finance it as a Shelby vehicle, Shelby GT program was successful but a pre-title vehicle which you could

finance as a Shelby vehicle from the dealer, The Terlingua was not successful due to the high cost even though it had a CSM number, The KR was a pre-title vehicle and not successful with dozens

still remaining on dealers floors due to a very high cost and crazy pricing on replacement parts, The Super Snake is very successful but only to those who can afford the up-fit and now they have a

problem supplying parts, The GT-350 is moderately successful but thay have put such a bad taste in peoples mouths for having to wait almost a year to get their cars back that they have probably lost

more customers than they gained, and now we are talking about the GTS...so it's post title, $10K to $20K and aimed at a young buying group well, I don't know about you but if I could only afford a

base Mustang I certainly wouldn't have an extra $10k laying around for an up-fit and if I did I'd be sitting my ass in a new GT.

The king of the hill is still the GT500 and that's not even a Shelby vehicle it's an SVT vehicle having only the namesake on the rear end.

Independent Shelby offerings have really made no dent at all in the grand scheme of things, 20 or 30 CS6 cars, 30 or 40 Terlingua cars, a few thousand Hertz, Shelby GT and KR vehicles combined, a few hundred Gt-350 vehicles, a few hundred Super Snakes and 30,000 or 40,000 and climbing GT-500's.

So is it really owning a "Shelby" vehicle or owning a "Shelby" name that's important, according to the numbers, I'd say it's the latter of the two which means it can be put on what ever they choose when ever they choose.

Bottom line people is it's just a friggin car and cars are not an investment so drive them, enjoy them , ride them hard and put them away wet.

If the day comes when Shelby closes it's doors and nothing else will ever be produced then we will all own the last of this breed and potentially we may have a little market favor but until that day we are all at the mercy of the masses.

I wanted to make one very important point, and it's a hard one to think about. Carroll Shelby will not be around forever. He is 88 years old, and as much I hope he stays around, it's only a matter of time until the legend himself moves on. What I'm trying to say is- when Carroll Shelby dies, the Shelby car dies with him. I DO NOT care if Ford or SAI releases anything after that with his name on the car- it won't be a true Shelby in my book. After all, you can't get the mans input. Therefore, now we have another limited edition Shelby, the new GTS. I think it's, only because eventually there won't be anymore built.

BTW, I can tell you that very few young buyers (using their own money), will be able to afford the GTS package. The CS cars weren't a large success for the same reason- it's still too much money.

For What it is Worth:

I purchased my SGT back in early 2007 for ONE THING and ONE THING only... And THAT was to drive it like it was meant to be driven :shift: Shelby Autos took a very capable street car and turned it into a very respectable track car that most of us "average" car guys could purchase and enjoy. Is it the fastest on the drag strip = NO! Is it the quickest around the track = NO! Is it the most powerful Shelby ever produced = NO! Is it THE car that everyone wants = NO!

But here's what it is to me = This car is the only vehicle I have ever owned that I could drive on a daily basis to & from work and get mid-20's MPG. Turn around on any given Wed afternoon and take it to the track (either the drag strip or the road course) and drive the car to its limits for less than the cost and hassle of getting a speeding ticket on the highway. Half way thru the track sessions, get in the very same car and drive to the local BBQ joint for a quick dinner break. Get back into the car and drive back to the track just in time to hear "1st Call for the Advanced Group" and head right into the staging area for your next 120 MPH+ track session. Drive a couple more sessions before the sun sets and then hit the road back home for a nice 75-mile cruise with the SAT Radio blaring out 60's hits one right after another... Oh and if I wanted to, shine her up and take her to the local car show and tell everyone "How much FUN this car is to drive and where I have taken it to over the past 4 years"...

My only "dissappointment" with the Shelby GT vs GTS is that now I could decide what color & options I wanted, rather than be at ther mercy of the dealership (ADM) and what they ordered for the showroom :angry22: And YES, I paid way more than I should have back in early 2007. And YES, for less money today I could have a brand new, more powerful, GTS w/SC and better brakes. But with ZERO miles on the ODO and a Brand NEW Shelby, that is all I would have.

Now if I could only remember to SMILE when my picture is being taken out on the track :camera:

I agree that SAI needs to stay in business, remember CS said he is out of the car production business, just parts and mods. The SGT is pre title and will have that image, but all Shelbys have stock ford vin numbers. If you get a stock gt, it will have the same vin as a Shelby. The only special vin on Shelbys like the old days is the gt500. If you want to move up get the 500 and have a blast. Or get the GTS with the 5.0, and it will smoke your SGT. You have options. I had a SGT and got tired of people calling it the baby shelby. I like the car but my gt 500 smokes em. If you dont like the SGT, then get another Shelby, there are no rules and lots of chocies. Remember they are all Fords, Shelby just mods them,.that is their business to stay in business. SUDDEN.

I sold my last sportbike beacause doing 40 yard long burnouts at speed and wheelies at 90mph was becoming a little too familiar....:hysterical: I am, wanting another one again though haha!

I have yet to be smoked by a 500, drag or roadcourse....Otherwise ....+1

Uh oh, now you've gone and done it! It's a Shelby, it says so on the title, says so on the sticker, says so on the car. The last round of original GT 500s didn't pass through Shelby's hands either but no one contends they're not a "Shelby". I didn't put the Shelby name on it, Ford did, with CS's blessing and input.....ok, SVT did the engineering work, Ford did the assembly, but Carroll put the name on it. How many SVT Cobras are running around? Are they "real" Cobras or just an SVT vehicle with a cool sounding name slapped on them? It's not like it's a poser or a wannabe, it's one of 2 vehicles (SGT & GT 500) that Shelby attached his name to in 2007. I hate this argument and, as you can tell, it sets me on fire. I didn't buy a Mustang GT and slap Shelby dress up items on it. I purchased a unique, distinctive, and purposefully built vehicle that is what it it......a Shelby Mustang.

.....no real mods to that car this one doesnt get except it was a pretitle car.....:headscratch:

Just sayin....

HP on the v6 is similar to the 4.6 in the sgt, and the gts gets all mods the sgt got if not more, so I guess that is what you think of the stock sgt's too....sorry to hear that..my brother has an sgt and I think its a great car too.

Sorry to here that you are very confused and disappointed. I wanted a Shelby for 40 years and finally own one. Just love the looks I get while driving down the road. My wife likes the sh*t eating grin I have getting on the freeway at 100 mph . I run a small business and in todays market it is hard to stay open. SAI has do do something. Plus not every on wants a GTS. Shelby have to stay open to make more stuff for our cars. I did not buy my GT500 as an investment, even if the wife says she will not sell it till I am in the ground. I drive her every day. It's too much fun. After all is said and done if you are still confused and disappointed just sell the car and go on. Other wise drive it like you shound and enjoy her. Long live Carroll Shelby.:shift:

I own one too remember and yes I consider it a Shelby as does everyone else...but the purists will always contend...no CSM...no Shelby and I don't know about yours, but my CSM is nowhere to be found .....and BTW....the SGT just happens to have a CSM number.

My favorite rant by the way..I laugh my ass off every year...

This is an interesting conversation....

I love my Shelby GT........with the Whipple its propelled into pretty rare air.......

I couldnt be any happier and for me....whatever Shelby builds today tomorrow or ever

will not change that......

The GTS is an interesting car to say the least....

the new FORD V6 V8 packages are a great foundation to build on......

the thing that is curious to me I have not heard anyone mention.....

is the front clip on the GTS is the same as the GT350?

now I know SA had to find some way to sell those clips......I understand that.....

I am sure the sales projections for the 350 wasnt 160 units for 2011 when they designed it....

so now the clips are on another car......makes sense to me......and should to everyone who has stated SA

must build new cars.....etc etc....its a business......agreed......

but how does it make the guy who spent 80k on his 350 feel when he sees the same

front clip on a car for half the money?

dubbs....maybe you can weigh in on this........

This is a great car and as an SGT owner I'm VERY pleased with the way SA has brought this about. Between now and Q4/Q1 I'll be looking for a car and make the jump. I think part of me wants to have the feeling of anticipation again...I think time museum delivery too. There were things I didn't get or do last time. I know better now....glad I'm getting a second chance to live that dream!

Hey Michael!

And it shouldn't! I don't love my SGT any less...it's just "different" I guess. I'm still struggling with the decision but I do love the 5.0, the new interior, My Ford Touch, etc., so now I have an option! I think that's good!

BTW....24,000+ posts?

Oh man, this is going to be good! :lurk:

You may very well get him in driving skill, but your car and its abilities will NOT embarrass his car. If you have a full griggs setup you might run a faster lap time on a tight track, but not enough to "embarrass" the 350. If you don't have a griggs or on a big track you'll be seeing tail lights (at least until he laps you).

And trust me that you dont even want to mention 1/4 miles times. That would be embarrassing! :hysterical:
