Mustangs have had a long history in our family.

My first car was a 76 Granada Sport Coupe with a 302. With some back yard work she became a good force. I got rubbed a lot about it unitl the first night at the local drag spot. It was very rare to loose a battle and got even higher value when I beat a 85 Capri (5.0). During my young years I had posters of GT500's all over the place and continued to live the dream. I have always owned a Ford truck for everyday use with my current truck a 04 F250 and the wife has an 03 F250. after several Mustangs with my last, 07 GT with the Ford racing 400hp package. I had never been satified and the faitfull day came when I walked into the dealer and saw my 2011 sitting in the showroom last year. My child hood dream finally came true. She has 700 miles on it so far and is still in winter rest and itching to ride.

my Mustang list;

76 Mustang II, 93 LX fast back, 96 GT, 03Cobra and 88 GT same time, 07 and 08 GT, Finally but surely not the last 2011 GT500 A child hood dream come true

Current fleet; 2003 ans 2004 F250 Ext. Cabs, 2011 Expedition (SSV) (Squad car)

Family fleet includes; two escorts, 65 Mustang, Model T, three Crown Vics, F350 Dump, F250 Deisel, Escape and family friend owns a Prudhomme (if spelled correctly)

I am not blessed with an extraordinary amount of money... never have been. But whenever possible, I've wanted to drive something distinctive. And fast.

My first car was a '72 Javelin AMX. 360, 4 barrel, 4-speed. Bright yellow with some distinctive black stripes. Had the engine overhauled by a local guy who owned a backyard race shop of sorts... he found a mild solid lifter cam for it under a pile of stuff in a corner of his shop.

At one point, had a Neon Sport Coupe (laugh if you must, but at the time - 1995 - it was the fastest MoPar you could buy except for the Viper. And it returned fuel economy in the very high 20's.) Traded it in on a '96 Trans Am. Black w/ T-tops and leather. Parked outside all day on a St. Louis summer day? Quite possibly the world's HOTTEST car!

Then came an '02 SS Camaro w/ some additional SLP goodies ordered. In retrospect, I maybe should have kept this car.

Next, an '03 Mustang GT. Don't remember exactly why I made THIS move, but it was a stupid one... a purely awful little car with poor front seats.

Got rid of this one night in favor of a 2005 GTO. Didn't even test drive it. Read that it had the (then) Corvette 400hp motor and handled pretty well. Sat in it, turned the key and heard the exhaust rumble and told the dealer to get the paperwork ready NOW.

Got bored, built up some equity, and started to look around. I hadn't considered the '07-09 GT500 - the GTO was nearly as fast, looked good to me, and I wasn't really a Mustang guy.

But I read some write-ups on the 2010 GT500. The 2005 redesign made the interior larger, it was improved in every way from the '07-09, and it basically had the 540hp engine from the previous year's Super Snake. Wow! Are you kidding me??? 540 hp from the factory? For less than $50,000? I've gotta get me in on this!!!

And it was a MARVELOUS car. Kona blue w/ white stripes - incredibly fast, handled well, got 19mpg, got an incredible amount of attention. My old, fat, depressed self was in hog heaven. Folks, a couple of the "car guys" at work that I really respect at work actually told me that this was their dream car. Another took a pic I sent him and used it as his wallpaper!

And then, for 2011 they had to go and improve nearly everything. With the SVTPP, handling, fuel economy, interior noise level, braking were supposedly all better. And now an aluminum 550hp engine with a broader torque curve? For very little additional $$$? Ford, you can't DO this to me!!!

So now, then, I've got a grabber blue 2011. I REALLY wanted the SVTPP and for it to look just like the 2010. Am still a little PO'ed at Ford over the silly little stripes. And I can't drive a stick very well... truth be known, I'd prefer an automatic with a higher stall torque converter - I've looked quite the buffoon at times with my efforts at rev matching... early on with the '10, killed it on the highway at rush hour - forgot I was driving a manual, and as I pulled to a stop in traffic, it simply d-i-e-d.

But it is an utterly amazing car. One I wouldn't have imagined being able to buy forty, twenty, or even five years ago. I love performance cars. I think Ferraris are amazing pieces of rolling artwork... well, except for some from the early '70's. But I'll never be able to afford a new one. Or probably have the contacts or wherewithal to keep an older one in tune.

This car is the nicest thing I've ever owned. It'll probably be around for quite a while.

Thanks for listening!

Been a mustang fan for years, always like the look of them. Even the Fox body style, especially when the Connecticut State police were buying them as chase cars. Liked them much better than the turbo Regals that CT State Police drove. First car at 16 was a 1983 Ford T-Bird Turbo coup (extra car at the time), 49000 miles with a brand new air-cooled turbo. Nothing like a broken-in engine and a new turbo.

Last year in college the new mustangs started coming out, current revision I think is the best.

Love to drive it, get a lot of looks b/c some people don’t know what I driving others do. Other than the Colorado Red Daytona striped most people think it is a regular GT. Love the sleeper look.

Better yet, the Navy Base I work on there is a 2011 Graber Blue GT500, you see the looks we get when we leave the base together. Usually by chance.

Love the car. Glad I got it. Use it addition to my daily drive an F150. I bought it to drive it, NOT stare at it and polish it.

Favorite quote from Ferris Bueller, granted they are talking about a Ferrari 250 California Spyder, but works for a GT500:

"Cameron: Ferris, my father loves this car more than life itself.

Ferris: A man with priorities so far out of whack doesn't deserve such a fine automobile.

[Ferris caresses the car in admiration]

Cameron: No. No! Apparently, you don't understand!

Ferris: [ignoring Cameron] Wow.

Cameron: Ferris, he never drives it! He just rubs it with a diaper!"

BTW great plate on the Ferrari in Bueller - NRVOUS

TVs, paintings, fish tanks and nude women get me to stare and polish them :hysterical:

I drive bad ass cars and clean them when I have time.
