REAL ONE
With the TVS I'd expect 650hp. Hope they widen the rear meats too! If so it will be a monster ala Supersnake territory. Awesome!!!! Fact is we can have the same performance now with $4K to $6K on mods.
buck24
That's nasty, I hope they put bigger meats in the rear, 285s in the rear aren't sufficient for 500hp let alone anything higher.

Get em' while there hot, God knows the government will put an end to this soon. Too much noise, too much smoke, too much speed, not enough hybrid. dbowles22
On a side note, i hope they dont butcher the body style too much. As long as it stays retro with not too much modern I'll be happy. Some cars look better with a modern touch, some are destroyed. GO USA!
Light66
I ordered 12 GT500 and I have not even got the car and I feel like car is already outdated. Cars are no different than technolgy. Many of us are already at that point (hp) or even greater. Once Ford starts improving the suspension and reducing weight then it will be time to get excited. JWG223
If they put a better suspension under the rear and go with some 325's or bigger, that is going to be one sick car. I am almost positive Ford will correct the hooking up issue. It's painfully obvious when their 100bhp less BOSS is killing it 0-60. I am also very happy to see them move to a more "Modern" look. Other than the Challenger, I think it's all just a bunch of rot. To me, Retro was just an easy way of saying "We have no imagination and can't find anything new that we think you would like, so we are going to dust off a classic and try it again". I didn't like the T-bird. I don't like the Camaro. The Challenger and Mustang pulled it off pretty well. I still don't like the concept of it, though, in general. Ford really seems to be kicking ass and heading in a very good direction. It's only a matter of time before they have another Supercar out. I am anxious to see what it is, and curious if I will trade in on it/it will be affordable or not. Cars are no different than technolgy. Many of us are already at that point (hp) or even greater. Once Ford starts improving the suspension and reducing weight then it will be time to get excited. The article states the production car will not use the body-work seen in that photo. Who knows how extensive it will go.
03 DSG Snake
I love mine, but they keep getting better and better. Hats off to Ford! Time for a bigger blower for me.
kahmann
I'm really curious to see the new body style - I hope they don't F it up too bad. Very cool that the Cobra will be getting a TVS standard. Should have been that way from the beginning. And 5.8L of fury sounds pretty damn exciting too. JWG223
Are we thinking that the GT500 will sport a new body style for 2013 ???? Supposedly, but from what I gathered from the article it would be more of a facelift than a new body style, per se.

mullens
Finally they're going to a TVS. Way overdue. I thought they would have done that in '12. I sincerely hope Ford listens to the masses and does something about traction (hopefully launch control). What good is it if you have 1000hp and can't use it. shel-b001
Lets hope they clean up the rear , since the 10` came out I still can`t get use to the rounded sloped rear .
SVTpower
still far away, some are getting to excited for no reason........and those 'too excited' will pay $65-$70k u.s. $$$$, probably $75-$80k here in Canada, no thanks.......by then you can get a mint garage queen ZR1 for the same or less............now that's exciting. bpmurr
I thought 2014 was the year for the next major Mustang overhaul so I'm not sure we'll see any big platform/cosmetic changes for just one model year. With that said this article just killed the my thoughts of buying a 2011 GT500. I'll rock the GT for now and get back into the game with one of these bad boys. The GT500 is changing a little too quick for my tastes. Unlike 07-09 where outside of a KR you didn't feel like your car was out of date after a year. SVTpower
Remember what Ford/Shelby said in 2006 - " will be a 2 year/ maybe 3 year production car" .........and that's why I'm on my way saving for a Z06 or even a ZR1.

True, at least I had 3 years.......2010 guys got short changed 10hp and the alum block, and I agree with you, if this 'leak' is true, who the heck would order a 2012, or buy the 2011?? I sure wouldn't !
