spencerhm59
Greetings. I have a 2008 GT500KR. I upgraded the stock Eaton supercharger with a FRPP Whipple Supercharger (M-6066-MSVT29C). The beautiful stock strut tower brace does not fit now. I bought one from Steada and they gauranteed it would fit - NOT. Does anyone know where I can buy one ready to go? Thank you. Tucker
Yes, we have STB spacers for $8 each. With one on each side the stock bar should fit over the 2.9 Whipple. I know many do this with success, but I don't know if they lowered the engine or not. I don't think so. Thanks Jay

It really broke my KR's heart that it had to remove its stock strut tower brace. I have ordered these!!!

Oh8SnakeDriver
spencerhm59, I can confirm that the JLT spacers will raise the stock STB enough to clear the Whipple 2.9, but will not work on the FRPP STB as it will still hit the JLT CAI C/F pipe, not sure if this will be a problem on your stock Ford CAI. How did your project go? I am interested in buy the 2.9 but have the same concerns about fitting under the engine strut. Have you completed the work and if so did you get the hp you wanted out of your KR. I also have a KR. CR500KR

Mike Hello Mike. I ordered the spacers from JLT. THE CAI is the one that came with the Whipple 2.9 not the JLT CAI, so I am keeping my fingers crosses the spacers will work, but if not I'll have to find someone to custom make one for me. Thank you very much for your help. Spencer

They do lots of high perf installs. Yes it gave me the HP I wanted and then some. It's totally unbelievable. In 3rd gear on the freeway at 60 if I stomp it it'll jet forward like a jet but ya gotta go into it sort of carefully (that is your experience with the supercharger) because the back wheels will spin. Yep at that spead too, and you better have more suspension mods on it it!!!!!!!!! I've upgraded my suspension beyond Shelby (bought from shelbystore.com) and the rear end handles much better. However, I don't think I can ever get rid of the rear end sway no matter what I do. Sure there's options: slicks, lower the tire pressure, drag radials, and I'm sure a lot more I don't know about. Ultimately the car is much much faster. If you do upgrade, man watch it because it can get away from you! Ok I am patiently - well somewhat patient - wating for the spacers. I am hoping so much I can put my stock STB back on. If not I guess it's a fabricated route I'll have to take. As soon as I get the spacers I will see how it goes and get back to this forum. Thanks for your reply! Spencer

Thanks for your reply! Spencer Spencer, Thanks for the feedback. My name is Chris from California and I am looking forward on my KR upgrade. I am choosing the Whipple 2.9 with the 50 state legal smog. Lethal Performance has said that it will give me 640HP at the wheels. Did you choose that one or did you go with the higher HP rating? It sounds like you are extremely happy with the car. I'm an old 70's boy when it comes to high HP cars so when I bought the KR it was just like the old days. Now I'm craving more power and it sounds like after reading what you sent that I'm on the right track. Again, thank you for getting back to me as I want my KR project to go smoothly. spencerhm59
Greetings all. First thank you for all the feedback from everyone!!!! Well I received the spaces from JLT, and my first thought when I opened the package was: "good quality." So I tried them by putting both spacers on the drivers side hoping to raise the STB over the tube, and it wasn't even close. The tube is the one that is part of the Whipple 2.9 kit, so it obviously sits a lot higher than the stock Eaton tube and CAI. It looks like I'll have to investigate a fabrication approach. If anyone has any ideas or references of any quality companies in Georgia, please let me know, or if anyone knows of a company that may already have one to clear the Whipple 2.9 please let me know. Again thanks for everyones time and thoughts. Sincerely, Spencer McCormack.
Tucker
Sorry it didn't work out, I guess I didn't think you had the Whipple intake, as all the ones I have seen had the JLT. You are welcome to return the spacers. Jay

However, I am intrigued very much with your comment "as all the ones I have seen had the JLT." If the JLT CAI will work I'll buy it!!!!!!!! How much is your CAI? Is it something a non-machanic like myself can install? It doesn't look difficult, but there may be things I don't know about the process that only machanics knows. Wow I'll buy your CAI in a heart beat if I can put my stock STBrace back on!!!! Thank you Jay!
Tucker
I would recommend our new 127mm CAI, but a retune will be needed. I don't have a tune for your set up, but I'm sure you have a local tune shop near you. JLT 127mm CFCAI
