Hi Everyone.......

For those that want to stay in Sacramento Friday night for the cruise, here is a list of hotels in the Old Sac area. A few of us will be staying at the Embassy Suites in Old Sac.

I am working on Tahoe Saturday night.

Saturday Night South Lake Tahoe..........

I called several places in South Lake Tahoe and found that a lot of them are requiring a two night minimum. Here is a couple that are not.

South Lake Tahoe Best Western Timber Cove Lodge

Nothing fancy, just nice, got good reviews.

This one is 1 1/2 miles from the casinos but there is food within walking distance.

Air conditioning.

NO covered parking.

$127.79 + tax, this is a AAA rate.

Harvey’s at Stateline............

http://www.harveystahoe.com/casinos/harveys-lake-tahoe/hotel-casino/property-home.shtml

Right in the middle of the action/food.

Air conditioning.

Parking garage.

$189.00 night and require one night’s deposit.

I forgot, but Embassy Suites in South Lake Tahoe at Stateline does not require a two night minimum as well. They have valet only parking, I know Jim was able to talk the manager into letting him park his car last year but generally they do not....

Unforthunately, no there is not. Not enough interest. Tahoe especially is tough, most of the hotels are requiring a two night stay. I found that Harvey's in South Lake Tahoe is not and that is where we will be staying.

Can we get a list of who's staying where? I'd like to stay where others will be.

Since everyone is booking their own rooms it's hard to say undless they post on here.

A few of us will be staying at Embassy Suites Friday night in Old Sac and Harvey's Saturday night in South Lake Tahoe. I know of a couple that will be staying at Embassy Suites in South Lake Tahoe which is just across the street from Harvey's.

I'm not sure if the info provided here will be useful or not, however there is going to be a major road project on HWt 50. It may be over (or complete) by our trip, however the hwy 50 route will be open so they say. My only worry is road surface issues for those of us with lowered cars. The public website is Way2Tahoe.com. I'm hoping that im just paranoid.

Gallupn,

Concerning the Hwy 50 closure starting this month and extending into June with one-way controlled traffic, see post #129 here http://www.teamshelb...w/page__st__120

Although I would like to keep our original route, I am concerned about the possibility of delays and unfavorable road conditions (like loose asphalt mix along the road near Echo Summit). So unless CalTrans finishes this project ahead of schedule, I think we'll go to plan "B" and make our way to Lake Tahoe via I-80 to Truckee and then over Hwy 267 to Tahoe Vista. Thanks.

I talked to a "manager" yesterday about staying at the Embassy Suites and parking my car or going with the valet (they only have valet parking). He advised that no one other than the valets are allowed in the parking garage so you cant even go in to cover up your car, etc. He said they like to work with the customers but I advised that this didnt see much like "working with the customer". So I changed my reservation to Harveys. I dont know how SVT Naja was able to park his car himself here last year but maybe he is more persuasive than me. Anyway, fyi.

Actually, it was Jim (JimC) that managed to do that. I don't know either, he caught them at the right time.

Really...... The rooms actually are $20 cheaper for that weekend. Are you sure you checked the one at Stateline in South Lake Tahoe? Sal just cancelled his, I wish I would have known you could have had his room.

Doesn't seem right Larry, especially that time of year....

Larry,

Harvey's is hosting Sammy Hagar and the Wabos on 9.10.11 - which is probably why they are booked full. Try one of the other facilities Aggie has listed and I think you'll be good.

Oh wow, didn't know that. Sounds like our changes didn't come a minute to soon. They must have planned that "after" we rebooked because our rooms are $169 instead of $189.

What a bummer Larry, hope one of the other rooms I have listed is available.

I just booked from Hotels.com a place called The Green Lantern about 3 blocks from Harveys. Pictures look good but we all know how that can go. They will do one night only

at $72.52 total but have rooms with spas for $150 plus fees. They still had rooms available as of today.

Make sure you check to see if they have air conditioning. A lot of these small hotels do not. We stayed at a nice one last year but it didn't have air and it was very warm in the room.

Weather forecast is looking warm for that weekend.
