Importing my CS from Canada to the US

It's looking like I'll be moving down from the frozen north to the sunshine state either later this year or next.....I'll be bringing my CS with me but am finding it a bit confusing researching how to go about it....

If I'm reading things correctly there would be no duty to pay as it's a US manufactured vehicle (applies if it were made in Canada too) and I have to prove it meets emission standards by showing the sticker under the hood. This all seems a little too straightforward so if anyone has any experience of this or has come across a good resource please chime in.

Have you contacted RIV?

I know they would matter going 'into' Canada.....just wonder if it is required leaving? The other major contirbutor is whether or not you are a visitor in Canada, or a Canadian citizen...leaving.

I was a part timer from the US, and my cars were shipped up there from the US, as visiting cars. (I never imported them) So, I had no problem coming back down. There were papers that needed to be filed with the US and Canada, but it was easy stuff.

Contact RIV there in Canada first!! :salute:

Who are RIV?

I'm a Canadian citizen so the car was bought, new, here.

RIV don't care you are leaving Canada. I you are coming back to Canada make sure you have all the Canadian Docs for the car. RIV cares when you bring it in. Contact the US customs as you will be keeping it there. I assume.

I store my car for the winter in the us and maintain Canadian ins. US customs don't care as I am bringing my car back to Canada

Woohooo, another Shelby coming to the Sunshine state.

I don't really know much about transferring the stang here to FL but we here in FL don't have strict rules about mods and such and seeing that it is mustang I'm sure it will be good to go here, btw what part of FL ya heading to?

Uk, I'm not too far from the Doral area, you will be able to meet many stang clubs/groups when you come down. Make sure you go to the Southeast Region sub forums when you come down here, we are trying to get a SE Shelby thing going, it would be great to see your CS here in FL where you can drive it year round.

My gf lives in Doral. Work availability will set the exact location of course but should be the general Miami area.

I think your car and you will melt you need to start off slow and if you go by the water and you see a big dinasour its not its a human eating lizard. Oh and if you get pulled please don't say Hey A they wont like it :hysterical:

I'll definitely be looking to get into the local car scene when I come down so will be sure to check in on the regional forum. I can't wait to have a driving season that's longer than 5 months out of 12.

Human eating lizard?? I must be tired 'cos I have no idea what you're talking about...lol

As for melting - given that I'm a redhead and go from white (I make milk look like it has a tan...hehe) to red very quickly unless I'm careful - you could well be right :D
