It's official....The first ever Shelbyfest Autocross Ride-Along Experience IS happening, Saturday April 30th in Hermann MO. $10 get's you the ride of your life with a certified driver and a chance to win a set of BF Goodrich tires. More information will be posted soon at www.shelbyfest.net and here as well

Gateway Classic Mustangs is working with Shelbyfest to give attendees the opportunity to experience Auto Cross. If you're not familiar with autocross, it is a race that is generally set up in a parking lot with a defines course lined out with cones. Cars are generally allowed one at a time on the track and each car is timed per lap.

Instead of a full autocross event, we are "testing the waters" by bringing in an experienced group to both set up the course and be the host drivers. Rarely exceeding 25-30mph, the drivers' and the car's agility are tested as the typical course is full of twists and turns.

Here's how it will work....each "ride" costs $10. I ride will be approximately four laps. for the purchase of your ride, your name will be entered into a drawing for a complete set of BF Goodrich tires.

We will have three cars there to ride in, a 68 coupe set up for autocross and loaded with a Roush crate engine, a late model stang also set up for autocross, and a 67 coupe set up for road racing.

Drivers will be representatives from Gateway Classic Mustangs as well as Jeff Yergovich from R&A Motorsports.

The course will be in the Schneider Dodge and Featherlite parking lot with a shuttle running continuously to and from Shelbyfest due to the limited parking space available.

This is an excellent way to get a feel for what autocross is like and then prepare yourself for a full blown, "all drivers" autocross event in 2012.

Detailed information will be published soon.
