mywickedshelby
Well, we all stand for the Star Spangled Banner when we attend sporting events and the like.........of course........take your hat off, stand, hold your hand over your heart, right? but do you stand when you are watching TV and the National Anthem is played? I have attended Super Bowl parties WITH A HOUSE FULL OF PEOPLE, watched the Daytona 500 with a bar full of people and NO ONE STANDS????? Recently, I started standing for the Anthem at home whenever I hear it....ball game.....race.......sporting event of any kind....whenever it is played....... Just wondering what you guys and gals do..........or if you have ever thought about it? .......... No offense to anyone but I think everyone should stand out of respect for the flag, what it represents and especially for those who have given their lives and limbs for our Feedom! I would love to hear what you think about this........ and God Bless America!
SGT/SC#0471
I'd have to get a TV hooked up to the outside world first I suppose...
Doug_GT350
That's a good point Michael. I know when they give the invocation before a race I try to remain quiet. For the anthem I usually sing along to myself but don't necessarily stand during it. I think I will put forth a conscience effort in the future. David Hawkins
If I am already Standing, I wont sit until it is over. Sometimes it hurts to get to my Feet when I am sitting on the Couch. I must say though, no matter where I am at, I always get "Teary Eyed" every time I hear it. BIKEBOY
Micahel...love the thread!! I don't stand, but don't look away till it's over and sing along inside, and ALWAYS get a piss-shiver when it's over! God Bless the USA, and the freedoms we so often take for granted! ejrail
I actually do andI remove a hat if I'm wearing one. When I'm at an event in person. I look around at folks who don't remove a hat and stare at them until they do. It is more disrespectful to wear a hat than to stare, I figure. If I am outside and wearing a Hat then I remove it for the Anthem. I was raised not to wear a Hat indoors.
cobrakalas427
I usually sing along with the soloist (assuming that Rosanne Barr or Christina Aguilerra aren't performing) and then when finished acknowledge the crowds ovation of my performance!!! (JUST KIDDING!). Actually, I do listen and focus on the words and Thank God each time for the freedoms that ALL Americans enjoy living in the most wonderful country in the world! Firekiller
This is not the National Anthem, but one of my favorite patriotic songs. Hope you like.

BIKEBOY
So........I guess none of you stand! ok.......was just wondering. Right....good point, we lost the topic? I don't stand intentionally Michael, but at times, now that I think of it, I happen to be standing as I am in and out of the room doing other stuff when a game or race or function is just starting. At that point, like I said before...I do not look away, and I sing along to myself! It's the piss-shiver that I get everytime it's overwith, that remains amazing to me?
