Super Snake Owners Stand Up and Be Counted!

  1. 1. Please select your generation age group.

    • Generation "Y" born from 1982.
    • Generation "X" born from 1965 to 1981.
    • Generation "Baby Boomer" born from 1946 - 1964

Just one thing to note is that many baby boomers that own a SS aren't TS members or don't even do the forum thing altogether.

I know of at least 2 BB/SS owner's in the N/W that fit into that criteria.

Born in '63. I'm not sure I agree with the age categories. Not that it really matters but, anything I've read considers the 60's part of the Baby Boomers, mind you the latter end of it. Either way, great idea for a pole.

don't have an SS, but I would have to agree that I wold not consider anyone born in the '60s to be a gen X. Gen x ends to be used for people influenced by the mid '80s and early '90s (meaning they were born probably from 1968-69 to 1978-79.

The US Census Bureau defines a Baby Boomer as anyone “born between the years 1946 and 1964”

Ron

Ron,

Yes, I searched quite a few web sites trying to determine what is correct for the generation categories. However, I did not check the census bureau! If I change the dates, the data will not reflect the change.

I'm wondering once someone votes, can they re-vote if I change the generation year groups?

Glad someone else mentioned this. I was going to vote, but don't really consider myself a Gen X person. I also thought the boomer generation ended at 1964.

I'll change the questions and hopefully everyone can go back and change their vote if the change places them into a different generation category.

No worries, Jim. The only reason i know that is because I'm writing a book on joint replacement surgery and i researched the definition of the 'baby boom' generation... as they will be the ones reading my book!!

interesting that the baby boomers are almost doubling the 'X' ers in votes... i'm surprised by that.

I, too thought that the X'ers would be more inclined to be on this website (and therefore vote) but i'm wrong. that's the first time i've ever been wrong, really.

Sorry Goats, I didn't mean to mess up your results. I did cancel my vote and then voted in the "Boomers" section. Now that I think of it, I should have just shut up and left it as being considered a boomer makes me feel older. You know my mouth has got me in trouble more times.......... :D

That's OK ShelbyRookie! All in fun! I am surprised as well at the results. Must be an income delta factor that is throwing my assessment off. Baby Boomers income as a whole may be more, or they may have more in savings or equity in their home for a loan??? Or us older guys will sell everything to own a Snake! You haven't seen my mouth in action as I have gotten older I just don't give a damn anymore what people think! I'll shut up now :-)

Too funny Ron! I too have been known to always be right; just ask my five kids...okay Dad, okay Dad, you're right....later Dad... I am surprised as well at the poll results. But quite a few additional factors owners are bringing up that I didn't initially think of that would affect the results.

Congrats on the book Ron. I'm sure the experience during the war will help you write a best seller. Speaking of surgery, I had the knife last Friday for a hernia. First time to be sliced. The after surgery morophine was quite an experience. :o

No way Jose.... :hysterical:

Can you say, "disposable income?"

Baby Boomers (46 to 64) HANDS DOWN.

You can combine Gen Y and X into one group and they won't challange us "Boomers".

wow us X'ers and Y'ers are getting killed on this survey

Reminds me of the movie "fired green tomatos" when some Gen Y'ers stole kathy bates parking spot and said "face it lady, I'm younger and faster" and then Kathy Bates rams her car and says "Face it girls, I'm older nad have better insurance!" :hysterical:

Face it boys, Baby Boomers have more disposable income!! :hysterical: :beerchug:

Enjoy, you all have earned it!

Thanks, it has not been easy. My next goal is to have a Ford GT before i am 30.

Excellent! You are the perfect Gen X specimen, :) er, I mean candidate I was looking for through my studies of the complex environment surrounding the Muscle Car buyer, collector, driver, etc., species. I totally understand your sacrifices particularly at your age to have a nice collection as you do. I have always told my five adult children, that hard work pays off not only for a decent income to live what shrinks term a "normal" life, and if you want a few toys, you have to work that much harder. Obvioulsy, I am not referring to mortals who have inherited wealth to purchase a super car; that is a course in psychology all it's own.

I have been collecting and studying the Muscle Car market for over 35 years and have collected an immense amount of data for a book in the near future. It's not as simple as one would think. I am also a NADA Guide Advisory Board Member, so I have studied buyer habits at 100s of auctions, and I give auction results data to NADAGuide. The world surrounding all of us forum members is very different than someone who looks at a car as a mere means of transportation. One could say that about any kind of item they purchase over and over that may be expensive like our SS, etc., but when you take someone like the SS forum member, who spends an enormous amount of coin on a car like the Super Snake, GT-40, etc, the individual characteristics behind the driving force to purchase these super cars is extraordinary when compared to the masses of people on the face of this earth. We are a unique group of humanoids. It is very scientific and involves several complex human and environmental characteristics that impact the super car buyer. And some circles think we are literally, nut cases. I put up with the "nut case" kind of mentality with my ex wife, but when it came time to cash in when I filed for the big "D", she sure wanted part of that enormous $$$ equity I had after the sale of the collection I had for over 25 years!!! And in that collection I had five of the rarest original drivetrain Muscle Cars in the world. So there is a lesson learned there my friend for all to be aware of.

Would you mind sharing what you do for a living (PM me if need be). I am a retired USMC LtCol (Pilot), now working Anti-Terrorism / Force Protection / Counter Terrorism operations for the government.

Have a safe weekend.

Jim
