HID Projector Headlight Retrofit

Recommended Posts

I had been looking for a while to find some pictures of a mustang with retrofitted HID projectors, I found this picture on a forum, the guy also shows some steps of the process of the retrofit. Do you guys think it looks decent? I feel it gives the benefits of hid projectors without ruining the retro look of the headlights.

Here are a couple of pictures from the company I was looking into. Kits cost $270 if you do the installation yourself. The kit fits directly into the reflector (with some minor cutting of the reflector) This person painted the reflector black so its hard to tell if it would look good or not unpainted. I was planning on painting the bezels vista blue to match the car and then leaving the reflectors chrome. Thoughts?

AM has some, but they are imitations of the 2010-2011 lights. No one has manufactured one that retains the OEM look (this retrofit would put the projector directly into the OEM reflector) preserving the OEM look to some degree like the retrofitted ones do.

:headscratch:

I'm not a huge fan of the metal shield sticking up in front of the lens. I also like the look of the "projector", I just haven't seen anyone make a setup that can incorporate the projector into the stock reflector and look decent.

Here is a picture of an explorer, which I think has reflectors similar to our cars (circular reflectors close to the same size) it has been retrofitted with the HID projector kit I mentioned before. I think if done right it could look good on our cars especially with the bezel painted to match the paint on our cars like Ford should have done in the first place.

Here is one with a mustang but the reflector was painted (not very clear picture) but you get the idea.

Shield or not it is the Ford OEM HID lamp with integrated ballasts and it is very effective.
