KR158
Well had a tough day today. Parked in a new spot and ended up hitting the curb and my KR splitter cracked like a twig! Not sure how it happen as I have not ever done anything like this before. Talked to Shelby at 3500$ later will have a new one but ouch what an expensive lesson. Just thought you fellow KR owners may want to know in case you curb your car.
FiaCobra
Why not pick up a GT500 plastic splitter from your local Ford dealer and install on the car? You can pick up a KR or SS splitter from Shelby and save it.

KR158
Thats the plan now. Just never done anything like that and was very shocked how easy it cracked? Will save the new KR splitter and just add the ss CF splitter or plastic gt500 splitter.
FiaCobra
I had to remove the KR splitter when I picked up my car from an out of state dealer. The car would not go on the trailer without damaging the splitter. I got home and placed the plastic splitter from the GT500 on my car. Not gonna chance breaking a $3000 part. shelbypt
So sorry to hear that you hit the KR splitter. I'm always on guard for that, but one day it could happen to me. I would much rather go with the SS splitter. Looks awesome and isn't too expensive. The plastic is practical, but doesn't look very good. Doesn't do the KR justice... Firekiller
You could always get the plastic splitter and have it hydrocarboned, It looks very nice and has some flexibility to it as well. then if you crack it your only out 500.

FiaCobra
To be honest, you don't even notice the plastic splitter on the car. People are too busy paying attention to my tail lamps !! .....if the car is sitting, people are too fixated on the hood to notice the splitter. Firekiller
Go to this link http://www.southeastcarbonworks.com/gallery?action=view&idGallery=3 that should take you to the gallery for the sema 2010 cars. Mine is the Kona blue with the splitter and rockers done in the hydro carbon. You do not have to get them in the paint match, you can get them in the normal carbon look if you want. I have had them on for about 6 months and the are holding up fantastic. Let me know if I can answer any questions about them, thanks Greg.

I'm serious, the 4-5 I've seen looked very badly made, especially compared to ours. Maybe I've only seen old ones.

Maybe I've only seen old ones. My SS splitter looks great. I get compliments from people on it quite frequently. Also, for the money, I would have it over a plastic piece with a wrap (hydrocarbon) trying to look like an ss piece.
fcettner
Does the SS splitter mount the same as the KR ones? Been my biggest fear damaging my CF splitter. I'm doing pull throughs and backing into parking spots.

Have you looked at your splitter since you have stored it. When I put mine back on it had a white apperance to it I had to wax it 3 time to get back to a shine. I stored it the bag the the GT-500 splitter cam in so I thought it would protect it. Dennis
Imatk
This is the thing about the KR... I just don't understand why the parts or so astronomically expensive!! Does it REALLY cost that much to make a carbon fiber splitter??
REAL ONE
How much is the SS splitter?? Man, cracking a KR splitter would ruin anyones day.
dbowles22
Raceskinz GT500 splitter Real Carbon Fiber, $330. Raceskinz is the company that makes the CF parts for shelby so it will match.
2010KonaBlueGT
How much is the SS splitter?? A little under $500 (~4-80-somethin'?) for the '07-'09, a little over $500 for the '10+ (~$550, IIRC). They *are* nice items but I've never compared a Plasan KR to a SS off of the car (only side-by-side, ON the cars). Phill

Uhhhh, not for the KR's they don't (or didn't). Plasan made the KR carbon fiber hoods, rockers, splitters and mirror caps for Shelby and unless Shelby changed suppliers after the initial run of KR CF parts.... I can't say either way on the non-KR CF items (SS, etc.). Phill

2010KonaBlueGT
But still $330 combared to $500 is a good deal. I agree, 1000%! $330 is WAY better than Shelby's price of ~$480 (I should check so I'm not guessing). Jay @ JLT sells the Tru-fiber version but last time I checked, he was even more expensive than the Shelby offering as he started including his original "$100 shipping fee" into the final price of the splitter (but now he can claim free shipping). It ain't free if you raise your price 100 bucks per item! I was all set to buy the JLT Tru-fiber front splitter, side splitters & side rockers as he said he'd ship the rockers/side splitters in one package to save me shipping but then he raised his prices per item (which would cost me a min. of $100) so I opted to go a different route. Which is, PLASTIC! And then put the money I saved into performance mods instead of asthetic mods. YMMV, Phill

KR158
I know it sucks but hey what can we do right. Funny thing you guys may want to look at on yours.
