bimmerguy2006
Does de-striping the car devalue it more than your usual age/mileage depreciation? I like the silver on black look - but all black just looks sooooo much sexier.
2sharpie
No!!!!..........if someone wants the stripes, they can always put 'em on. Do what YOU like..................and you're right on the all black. Although this has stripes, I would take them off anyway...... I need a 2nd Shelby!!!!! bimmerguy2006
I was thinking about keeping the lower rocker stripes and just removing the other the top's front to back. If i was to put stripes back on, it would be flat black all around.

Itll be over 20 years before these cars become collector cars,if ever, since they made so many of them.At that point a stripe delete car may bring a premium, but since yours isnt a stock car,a collector would ding you for that Edited January 24, 2011 by Torched10
Crushinator
Has anyone here taken the stripes off their Shelby? I'm seriously contemplating it as I recently saw a picture of a red Shelby with no stripes and it looked great. I just can't decide if it's the right thing to do or not...or would I regret it? I really like the red with stripes. If the car was black or silver i would probably go for the stripe delete. Of course I didn't pay for your car so go with what you like the best. I totally agree with 2sharpie's outlook on this. If you love the stripe delete look...go for it. Simple as that. I had considered doing the same on mine for a bit, but decided to keep the stripes after thinking about it for a while.

Well when we clicked on SVTPP option on the Ford order system it keeps deleting the stripes. So the manager at the ford dealer called ford and they said that is the way it is. I kept telling them no but the system wont allow us to change to add stripes

The SVTPP stripe option is limited to specific color combinations, or it was when I ordered my '11.

When they added the SVTPP thats when the system automatically added stripe delete to the order. We tried to change it and it wouldnt let us. According to the Order Guide, you should be able to get White stirpes with Black accents.

That's weird...something is not right about that as jdaaleen mentioned. Obviously you are limited to color when you get the SVTPP on Red - white thin stripes. Vs...Red without SVTPP you could get silver, white, black or delete. Strange.
VitoScilla
The dealer screwed this up! UNLESS you were trying to order ALL BLACK seats (no stripes) and the SVTPP Package with exterior Stripes? If so, then the system is correct...it must be stripe delete... The ONLY stripe option on a Race Red SVTPP car is White with Black accents. And if you order it this way - YOU MUST GET White accent stripes on your seats as well. So - the only way the system would reject the order is if you wanted a red SVTPP striped exterior with ALL Black interior - THIS IS NOT AVAIL THROUGH FACTORY ORDER. I agree....make it yours and make it what you want. Can always add stripes again later. Let be realistic....by the time these things become (IF THEY BECOME) a collector's item I think that vinyl will be cracking or peeling and need to be replaced anyways. I have yet to see vinyl decals that lasted forever unless you're one of those that keeps your car sealed in an oxygen tent. No offense to the garage quenn keepers

jtp1947
I took the silver stripes off of my Sterling Gray 2011. Not hard but a little tedious. Took my time, about 2 hours, and used a hair dryer to heat the stripes and make the removal easier. Polished the car afterwards and no telltale stripe marks visible. wanted2b
Dealer said that once the VIN is issued there is no changing the order. I wanted to paint the stripes on and then clear over them. Just makes a nicer looking job. Hate polishing the car with the vinyl stripes. Pain in the A$$!!!!

If you weren't looking for all-black seats, then the dealer should've been able to get the white stripe included on your car. I just ordered mine recently and thoroughly scrubbed the striping possibilities/options. IMO, the dealer owes you a stripe at no charge!
