I was leaving from lunch in 'da hood and noticed a new GT500. Woo Hoo a local! Then I was driving away lamenting that this was supposed to my color combo back in 2007 and it hit me. I had to drive back to take a look and a pic. Notice anything?

Hope you're a new member, Hi!

Golf clap gentlemen.

I didn't get a chance to look- sadly, but what if it's a stripe delete SVPP that had standard stripes put on?

Its either a stripe delete SVPP car with add on wide stripes, or a non-SVPP with SVPP wheels.

Did you happen to notice if the mirror had the wide angle insert ? (or any other differences Big Dan noted.......like .finned rear diff cover ?)

Just trying to add some clarity.....

That's a possibility.

Which "The Ford Store" location license plate frame was on it?

San Leandro, CA. (About 40 minutes north of where this was taken).

The Ford Store San Leandro received four 2011 GT500's last year. The 1st was Black, numbers 2 and 3 were Red and the 4th was Silver. They were all SVTPP Stripe Delete Coupes. One of the reds had the Electronics Package, the other didn't. The buyer of this particular Shelby had the dealer order and install the wide white stripe kit.

How do I know? I own the Silver one and saw each of these come across the showroom floor. In fact, I spec'd the red one w/EP.

For clarity, the 2010's have the same mirrors.

Silver, eh? ;-)

Nicely played. I think that makes you the grand prize winner. Although you did have an inside line that others did not. :banvictory:

Way too much space left in the parking space on the drivers side. Need to get that thing alot closer to the curb to help reduce chance of door dings.

Enis,

I owned a 2010 GT500.... and they didn't have the "blind spot" side view mirror feature. This is new for the 2011 MY.

Jim

Huh. That's really odd. I snapped pictures of the 2010 MCA Mustang that was at the November 2009 Los Angeles Auto show, and it had the intergrated blind spot mirrors on it. :headscratch:

Who knows, Ford seems to bail on things last minute. I am guessing a supplier or production issue caused the mirrors delay until 2011.

Around $90 for the pair from the local parts counter.

When I went by my local dealer's just after they received their first '11 I made a comment about the blind-spot mirrors. I told the salesman "I'll bet they retrofit to a 10".

He said "yeah, the whole power mirror assembly comes out with just 3 bolts on the inside when you remove the cover. You could buy the mirror assembly and have it painted to match your Kona Blue '10"...........I was like, "HUH:????

I can buy just the GLASS and change it. Do you think that when a mirror glass gets broken you have to replace the complete mirror assy? I've replaced just the mirror glass on cars since the 60's."

He tried to say he didn't think they would fit, that they weren't the same dimension but IF they were the same......

I told him I doubted Ford made a one-year fit for the 2010 mirror glass and I'd put money on it that the glass will interchange.

Now that I know the price and that they are available, I'll be buying a set real soon. Thanks for the info.

That means he put the side rocker stripe on it too then. The stripe on the car is a "base model" stipe, not a SVTPP stripe. The SVTPP side rocker stripe is solid, the base is double stripe along the door/rear quarter.

But didn't the stripe delete cars still have the side "GT500" rocker stripe on them?

So are you're saying that he had the SVTPP side stripe removed and a base stripe put on in its place???

Because if my thinking is right, that's what he would'a had to do. I'm just not sure about the stripe delete cars having the side stripes on them or not. I only "think" that is the case (from what I've read here on TS).

Can anyone confirm/deny that?

Easy way to knew if it was a stipe delete car. See if the seats have stripes.

Factory stock Stripe Delete 2010/11 Shelby GT500's don't come with rocker vinyl stripes and the seat stripes are an indicator, unless the OTT & side stripes were black...

Of course now I wish I had stuck my nose up against the glass and did what I wanted to do and get a good look inside. The location has a very large open eating area "behind" where the car was and I didn't want to freak out a potential new owner by getting out of my and walking up to his/hers and nosing around.

Next time I won't sweat it and will get out of the car.
