Carrol Shelby's 07 GT500

The timing of this post is a bummer for me!!! I am packed for our move to NJ, and had no intention of unpacking until we find a place to buy. (we are renting temp.)

I have a SHELBY coffee table hardback book that wifee got me back when I had the 500 on order...at least I think that is where it has this pic...anyway, there is a pic. in one of my books of a 'test mule' Legend Lime GT500 that is quite concievably what you heard about. There is also a Screaming Yellow one in the same article, with a 'tester' front grille on it. The honeycomb on the grille on the yellow car is much more 'coarse', if you will? There is a close-up shot of it, as I recall?

They (Ford) tested a few cars with GT500 fascias front and rear, back in '05 and '06 with frankly the colors they had at the time.....doesn't mean those cars ever got built and saved. Generally speaking, I think the mules usually get diassembled, or destroyed.

:salute:

btw- I would dig the book out for ya, and scan....only I really don't know where the ATLAS packers put them? Argh!

Thanks Bikeboy,

Don't worry about hunting that book. I have two pics of the legend lime development car and several of the yellow car in development. I hope Ford has saved some of the Shelby / Mustang test cars for collectors or museum pieces. But, your probably right that they have been destroyed. Thanks for replying back

I'm still looking / hoping someone has any info or pics of Carroll's personal 07 GT500 Legend Lime car if this infact a true story and not a new myth.

Those are the Lime photos I had in mind. For sure. However there are some more of a yellow car showing, and talking about the fact that Ford toyed with the 'diamond' mesh sizing in the grille.

That's awesome rarecat!!!!!

Thank you!!!

I definately think that is the car mentioned as Carroll's. We know there were no legend lime GT500's offered to the public. We also know he likes convertibles and I believe that is Hua Thai-Tang the chief engineer for the 2005 Mustang.

Does anyone have any larger pictures or different views of this car. Any background story? Was it a gift from Ford to Carroll?

:lurk:

As far as I can recall Carroll does not have a Limer in his personal collection. I would think that if there was a Limer prototype GT500 out there still it would be in Ford's possession.
