pony23
I am looking to change the appearance of my engine in the 500. The car is black, the engine is black, thats way to much black for me. I want to add some color in there but not sure what color to do yet. You guys have any suggestions or pictures of different color cam covers. The 11's come in blue but I don't think that I want that. I did my 03 Cobra in silver vein and really liked it. I was also tossing around the idea of wrinkle red (like the Ferrari's have). That might look good against the black. Here is the engine as of right now...... 2011 engine bay in blue....... Here is my old 03 Cobra in silver vein........ Wrinkle red like those damn Ferrari's.... Edited January 15, 2011 by pony23
Firekiller
I would suggest the natural carbon fiber look.
Poisnus
I did blue on my all black car. The blue really made a difference.
cluscher
Ford blue, no doubt.
dbowles22
The blue cam covers on the 11's look great. Those paired with a set of polished coil covers would look perfect to ofset the black

ShelbyRookie
I'd go with the red. I think that would look great.

03 DSG Snake
Are you guys doing the swaps yourselves?
pony23
I started removing them today. Passenger side went well. Drivers is another story.

DoubleX
I started removing them today. Passenger side went well. Drivers is another story. Post some pics. This is on my to-do list, but I hear the driver's side is a PITA I've been told you have to move the motor and/or remove the master cylinder to get it swapped... Let us know how you did it, and post any pics of it along the way... Of course the final result as well.

2kgt281
I say if you want different, go red. Though, the silver vein looks good. To BAD500Chris, the red covers with the flat black engine bay looks great! What water pump is that? Please post pics when done!
pony23
The water pump is a Mezziere. I had one on my 07 Cobra. I will try to get some progress pics up. This project was stopped for now because the furnace in my house died. Been a mess here with temp heat while the install is going on. I'm on vacation next week. I will be back on it in a few weeks. He's currently in the middle of the build, but I agree, it looks awesome!

I tried doing the master cylinder first. Don't go that route!!!! I then dropped the K-member, much easier. Just remove the 8 bolts and jack up the car a little. Comes right off. I am dropping them off tomorrow. Should be finished by the time I get back from vacation. Updates when I come back!!!!

pony23
Car was on the ground when I did it. Unbolted the member. Then jacked up the body a smidge. Then set it back down for now with the bolts back in temperarily.

pony23
No problem. I jacked it up right behind the k-member on the sub frame. I can take a picture when I get back from vacation. I also dropped the valve covers off to the powder coated today. They should be ready in about a week. Can't wait to get the back.
pony23
The wife went out with baby today which gave me some time in the garage. Got everything on and together. I really like the red, I think I made the right choice in color.

I am planning to do a wrinkle Red on my 03, and depending on how it turns out considered going the same for the GT500. Great job.

pony23
Sorry, i don't have any pics. I can get under the car and take some. Basically you unbolt the k-member and then jack up the car leaving the front suspension on the ground.
J&DGT500
Has anybody had their supercharger from an 11' powder coated, would love to get mine done in red.
5spd07gt
I think a tutorial with pictures is in order here :shades: What was the total time involved to remove them? 1-2hrs?
pony23
I can work on it this weekend. I'll take some picks and write up some basic directions. It is probably about a 2 hour disassembly. It took a little bit of time to do. Thats why I did it over the winter.
